Safe food fair 2024 opens in Cam Thuy district

On the morning of May 9, at the Stadium of the Cultural, Sports and Tourism Center of Cam Thuy district, the Department of Industry and Trade coordinated with the People's Committee of Cam Thuy district to organize the opening ceremony of the 2024 Safe Food Market. The opening ceremony attracted a large number of people to visit and shop.

Faced with the reality of food safety and hygiene issues from many sides such as: production, processing, preservation or circulation of goods at markets, supermarkets, shopping malls and food businesses..., the Department of Industry and Trade has advised the Provincial Party Committee and the Provincial People's Committee to issue many documents on leadership and direction on ensuring food safety and hygiene in the area. A typical example is the plan of the Provincial People's Committee to organize a pilot "Safe Food Market" in Thanh Hoa province in the period of 2023 - 2025.

In 2024, the Department of Industry and Trade will coordinate with departments, branches and localities to pilot 4 safe food markets in Tho Xuan, Cam Thuy, Nong Cong and Nga Son districts. Through the markets, it is aimed at creating conditions for businesses, food production and trading establishments to display, introduce and promote their products to consumers, contributing to expanding the consumption market.

Speaking at the opening of the market, Deputy Director of the Department of Industry and Trade Tran Duc Luong emphasized: Safe food markets will help distributors and consumers in the province easily access quality food products, gradually raising consumers' awareness of the production capacity of food production facilities in the province; thereby contributing to promoting the implementation of the Campaign "Vietnamese people prioritize consuming Vietnamese goods" in Thanh Hoa province. At the same time, promoting safe food products, typical of the locality, contributing to expanding the consumption market for safe food products, OCOP products of the province.

Products brought to the market are all monitored for food safety by competent state management agencies, creating a reputable shopping address for local people.

The fair is organized with the aim of creating conditions for businesses, food production and distribution establishments inside and outside the province to display and introduce safe food to distributors and consumers in localities in the province; at the same time, promote and advertise safe food products, typical of the locality, contributing to expanding the consumption market for food products of the province.

At the market, local people also have access to safe and quality food products.

The safe food market in Cam Thuy district was held for 2 days (May 9 and 10). The market had 30 booths selling many products such as food, agricultural products, seafood, beverages, processed foods... of businesses, cooperatives supplying safe food, and units producing OCOP products in and outside the province.

Up to now, the whole province has 30 supermarkets, 368/389 markets recognized as food safety markets; 168 stores and supermarkets selling safe food.
