Cho Mai - Tan My road project is in disarray after many years of construction.

Accordingly, the adjustment of the Cho Mai - Tan My Road Project, Phu Vang District, Thua Thien Hue Province (now Hue City) was approved with the following contents: Adjusting the investment capital from "Central budget and local budget. Of which, the Central budget is more than 190 billion VND and the local budget is the remaining part", to "Central budget and local budget. Of which, the Central budget is more than 171 billion VND and the local budget is the remaining part".

In addition, the decision also adjusts the project implementation period until December 31, 2025; the project name becomes "Cho Mai - Tan My Road, Hue City"...

The Mai - Tan My Market Road Project was approved by the Provincial People's Committee (now Hue City People's Committee) in 2016, starting at the intersection with National Highway 49 at Km10+217 on Pham Van Dong Street, ending at the intersection with Phu My - Thuan An Street with a total length of more than 4km, the cross-section of the route is completed according to the plan with a 36m roadbed.

The project has a total investment of nearly 195 billion VND; of which, the construction value is about 123 billion VND, site clearance is more than 33 billion VND, the investment capital from the central budget supports the target of the socio -economic development target program of the regions according to the decision of the Prime Minister.

As reported by Hue Newspaper today , the Cho Mai - Tan My road project started in August 2018 with an initial expected completion time of 3 years. However, after many contract extensions and violations by contractors, the project was suspended in 2023 and has not yet been completed.

According to the Management Board of the City's Urban Development and Construction Investment Project, during the implementation of the project, due to a number of objective and subjective reasons, the project's progress and capital disbursement progress in 2023 were affected. Accordingly, the project was constructed in a low-lying area, the drainage infrastructure was not completed, so it was often flooded locally due to heavy rains at the end of 2023, affecting the progress. In addition, the project was constructed on weak geological foundations, and it took time to wait for subsidence, which extended the implementation time. In particular, the project had to conduct a control subsidence monitoring experiment, which also extended the implementation time.

Previously, the investor had submitted a document to the Department of Finance for consultation with the City People's Committee to appraise and approve the adjustment of this project.
