The Minister of Education and Training recently signed Decision No. 88/QD-BGDĐT on January 5th, approving the textbooks for grade 12 under the new 2018 general education program.
The catalog includes 39 textbooks for various subjects and educational activities: Literature, Mathematics, English, Physical Education, Economics and Law Education, History, Geography, Biology, Technology, Music, Fine Arts, and Experiential Activities - Career Guidance.
These are the new textbooks from Vietnam Education Publishing House, Vietnam Investment Publishing and Educational Equipment Joint Stock Company, and Hanoi University of Education Publishing House.
Previously, on December 31, 2023, Minister of Education Nguyen Kim Son signed Decision 4338/QD-BGDĐT approving the list of textbooks for grade 9 to be used in general education institutions.
The catalog includes 48 textbooks across 10 subjects and educational activities: Literature, Mathematics, English, History and Geography, Civic Education, Informatics, Music, Fine Arts, Physical Education, Experiential Activities and Career Guidance, and Technology.
These are the new textbooks from Vietnam Education Publishing House, Vietnam Investment Publishing and Educational Equipment Joint Stock Company, Hue University Publishing House, and Hue University of Education Publishing House.
Among these books, 27 out of 48 textbooks are published by Vietnam Education Publishing House; 14 textbooks are produced by Vietnam Educational Publishing and Equipment Joint Stock Company (VEPIC) in collaboration with several publishers (the "Wings of the Kite" series); the rest are from other units and publishers.
Currently, students in grades 5, 9, and 12 nationwide are studying textbooks from the 2006 general education curriculum. These are the last groups of students to study under the old curriculum.
The new textbooks approved by the Ministry of Education and Training will be used in general education institutions starting from the 2024-2025 school year.
The 2024-2025 school year will also mark the completion of fundamental reforms in education and training across all grade levels, from grade 1 to grade 12, ending the implementation of the old curriculum in schools.
Along with the diversification of textbooks, starting in 2024, the textbook selection process will also change. Textbook selection committees will be established and decided by schools, instead of committees established by provincial People's Committees as under the old regulations.
