The Minister of Education and Training has just signed Decision No. 88/QD-BGDDT on January 5 approving 12th grade textbooks according to the new 2018 general education program.
The list includes 39 textbooks of subjects and educational activities: Literature, math, English, physical education, economics and law education, history, geography, biology, technology, music, fine arts, experiential activities - career guidance.
These are new textbooks from Vietnam Education Publishing House, Vietnam Education Publishing and Equipment Investment Joint Stock Company, and Pedagogical University Publishing House.
Previously, on December 31, 2023, Minister of Education Nguyen Kim Son signed Decision 4338/QD-BGDDT approving the list of grade 9 textbooks used in general education institutions.
The list includes 48 textbooks of 10 subjects and educational activities: Literature, math, English, history and geography, civic education, information technology, music, fine arts, physical education, experiential activities and career guidance, and technology.
These are new textbooks from Vietnam Education Publishing House, Vietnam Education Publishing and Equipment Investment Joint Stock Company, Hue University Publishing House, and Pedagogical University Publishing House.
Among these books, 27/48 textbooks are from the Vietnam Education Publishing House; 14 textbooks are from the Vietnam Educational Equipment and Publishing Joint Stock Company (VEPIC) in collaboration with a number of publishers (Canh Dieu book series); the rest are from a number of other units and publishers.
Currently, 5th, 9th and 12th graders across the country are studying textbooks from the 2006 general education program. These are the last batch of students studying under the old program.
New textbooks approved by the Ministry of Education and Training will be used in general education institutions from the 2024-2025 school year.
The 2024-2025 school year is also the year the education sector completes fundamental innovation in education and training in all grades, from grade 1 to grade 12, ending the implementation of the old program in schools.
Along with diversifying textbooks, from 2024, textbook selection will change when textbook selection councils will be established and decided by schools instead of councils established by provincial people's committees as in the old regulations.
