The hearing was pushed by the opposition in the House of Representatives and only discussed a no-confidence motion against Prime Minister Paetongtarn personally.

The statements focused on criticizing the weaknesses in Prime Minister Paetongtarn's government operations; the ruling coalition's failure to implement election commitments, including amending the 2017 Constitution and reforming the military...

In addition, the opposition also took advantage of the parliamentary forum to attack the Government's economic stimulus policies such as the 10,000 Baht Digital Wallet program, subsidies for farmers, etc.

The opposition argues that these policies are ineffective, do not improve people's lives, and that Thailand's economic growth is among the lowest in ASEAN.

The opposition People's Party also accused the prime minister of being under the direction of her father, former prime minister Thaksin Shinawatra.

In response to the allegations, Prime Minister Paetongtarn has insisted her government is not influenced by anyone, while Mr Thaksin says he is retired and only gives advice.

Ms. Paetongtarn emphasized that the Government under her leadership always strictly complies with all legal regulations and is making efforts to implement all policies presented to the National Assembly since September 2024.

According to the schedule, the Thai House of Representatives is expected to hold a vote of no confidence against Ms. Paetongtarn on March 26, right after the end of 2 days of hearings.

Reuters commented that although she did not receive high support rates in opinion polls, Ms. Paetongtarn was still in a strong position, with her ruling coalition holding a majority in parliament.

Ms. Paetongtarn, 38, became prime minister in August 2024, after her predecessor Srettha Thavisin was ousted by a court for ethics violations. She is the fourth member of the Shinawatra family to hold the post.
