Jail for attacker who left cousin with brain injury

On the afternoon of August 17, the People's Court of Da Nang City tried Phan Long Tan (30, residing in Hoa Khanh Bac ward, Lien Chieu district, Da Nang city) for the crime of "Murder".

At around 6:00 p.m. on November 4, 2022, Phan Long Tan, Pham Thanh (26 years old), Pham Quoc Bao (all residing in Hoa Khanh Bac ward, Lien Chieu district) and a friend sat drinking beer on the sidewalk of Au Co street, Hoa Khanh Bac ward.

At 8:30 p.m. the same day, Pham Thanh Tuyen (36 years old, Tan's cousin) and Pham Long (30 years old, both living in Hoa Khanh Bac ward) passed by so Tan invited them in to drink beer.

However, when they arrived at the drinking table, Mr. Tuyen slapped each of Tan's group, then shouted: "All of you stand up and go home!"

Tan and Tuyen got into an argument and wrestled. Long came to stop them and kicked Tan in the face, causing his nose to bleed.

Being beaten, Tan went into the house, took a hoe and ran out to fight back, causing Mr. Tuyen to suffer a traumatic brain injury, with an injury rate of 47%.

In court, both the defendant and the victim admitted that they had consumed alcohol and were unable to control their actions, leading to the fight.

The People's Court of Da Nang City sentenced Phan Long Tan to 10 years in prison for "Murder".
