Thereby, gradually creating breakthroughs in agricultural production, contributing to increasing people's income.

In 2023, Huong Hoa district planted over 9,220 hectares of various crops; the main crop was cassava with an area of over 5,600 hectares, an average yield of 15.9 tons/ha, an estimated output of over 90,000 tons; over 2,300 hectares of rice, with an output of nearly 8,000 tons, an increase of 5.7% over the same period last year. In addition, there were more than 560 hectares of corn, 319 hectares of various vegetables and beans, about 133 hectares of root crops, 178 hectares of spices and medicinal plants...
For perennial crops, the whole district currently has over 3,700 hectares of coffee trees, of which the harvested area is about 3,400 hectares, with a yield of 10.4 quintals/ha; about 230 hectares of pepper, with a yield of 10.4 quintals/ha; over 1,100 hectares of rubber with a harvested area of about 690 hectares, with an estimated latex yield of 853 quintals/ha. In particular, along with the province's coffee replanting policy and economic stability compared to other crops, in recent times, people have been interested in replanting coffee trees. In 2023, over 152 hectares were replanted; of which 132 hectares were newly planted and 20 hectares were cut down and restored. At the same time, with the support of a number of projects to develop coffee trees in an ecological, organic and non-forest encroachment direction, coffee growers are gradually changing the way they produce coffee to create quality products, bearing the Khe Sanh coffee brand.
In addition to annual and perennial crops, fruit trees are considered the strength of Huong Hoa district with an area of over 4,100 hectares; the main crop is bananas with an area of 3,050 hectares, with an output of over 42,000 tons. Banana products have been purchased by processing facilities, a part of which is exported to the Chinese market, so the selling price is higher than the same period last year, averaging from 3,500 - 8,000 VND/kg depending on the time. The district has more than 538 hectares of macadamia trees and about 96 hectares of passion fruit.
In the livestock sector, the district currently has a total herd of over 67,300 cattle and about 177,500 poultry. The output of fresh meat for sale in 2023 will reach over 3,100 tons, reaching 116.3% of the plan. Notably, in addition to livestock farming, the district has 138 livestock farms; of which, there are 4 large-scale farms, 52 medium-scale farms and 82 small farms.
In the forestry sector, the district has over 52,250 hectares of forest, with a forest coverage rate of 44.7%. 2,145 hectares of forest have been built and recognized under FSC certification; 7,157 hectares of forest have been assigned to the community and 18,280 households for care and protection. In 2023, more than 690 hectares of concentrated forest and more than 110,000 scattered trees were newly planted.
In addition, the district has supported and built a number of breakthrough models in agricultural production. For example, the pilot model of developing beef cattle farming 3B at Economic - Defense Group 337; the model of planting macadamia trees as a boundary and windbreak with a scattered planting area of 5 hectares; coordinating with the Institute of Ethnic Strategy to provide 125 Sind crossbred cows to 39 households in Khe Sanh town and Tan Lien commune; supporting the development of specialty and organic coffee combined with intercropping of fruit trees with a scale of 80 hectares; developing passion fruit trees in an organic direction associated with linking product consumption with a scale of 5 hectares... Up to now, all models are developing well. People and businesses have invested in infrastructure, built greenhouses, net houses, installed automatic irrigation systems; applied closed barn technology, automatic feeding and drinking troughs, biological bedding, and applied synchronous mechanization in livestock farming.
Head of the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development of Huong Hoa district, Hoang Dinh Binh, informed that, determining the goal of sustainable agricultural development, based on the potential and advantages of the locality, in the coming time, the district will continue to implement synchronous solutions to shift the structure of crops and livestock towards concentration, intensive farming and specialization; gradually forming commodity production areas with high productivity, quality and competitiveness; linking production with processing and consumption of products. Focusing on developing local key crops, maintaining a stable area of cassava at about 5,500 hectares, coffee at 3,600 hectares...
Promote the development of cooperative economy, associated with inspection, supervision, and management of coded growing areas and support for the issuance of new codes for growing areas of the district's advantageous fruits such as bananas, passion fruit, etc. Encourage investment in industrial and semi-industrial livestock farming to stabilize the total herd and increase the output of fresh meat for sale.
Implement well the work of forest protection and development, encourage and support the development of production forests associated with the processing of forest products and non-timber forest products according to the planning to improve the lives of forest growers. Strive to plant 500 hectares of concentrated forests and 100,000 scattered trees by 2024, maintaining a stable forest cover rate of 44.7%.
At the same time, focus on supporting to improve the quality and efficiency of cooperatives, develop in accordance with market mechanisms, and become an important link in the linkage of agricultural product value chains.
