The Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee has just issued a plan to implement the Project to Support the Development of the Ho Chi Minh City Innovation and Startup Ecosystem for the 2021-2025 period in 2024.
The plan aims to promote the development of Ho Chi Minh City's innovative startup ecosystem to regional standards, contributing to increasing the contribution of total factor productivity (TFP) to GRDP by 2025 to 45%-50%. At the same time, it creates a favorable environment to promote and support the formation and development of types of enterprises with the ability to grow rapidly based on the exploitation of intellectual property, technology, and new business models.
The Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee aims to improve the innovation capacity of 900 enterprises; incubate and develop 300 innovative start-up projects. Contribute to increasing social investment in science and technology to an average of 1%/GRDP. The number of enterprises meeting the criteria of science and technology enterprises and the number of innovative enterprises increases from 8% to 10%; the rate of enterprises with innovative activities reaches 35% of the total number of enterprises. To achieve the above goals, the plan sets out many tasks and solutions with implementation time for each specific unit.
In particular, the development of infrastructure and services to support the innovative startup ecosystem is chaired by the Department of Science and Technology to form a network of innovative startup centers.
