Rich in cultural potential, great advantages in natural resources, combined with the province's policies on attracting investment and developing sustainable tourism, Nho Quan has become a destination for businesses and individuals interested in investing in tourism development.
The first "seeds"
More than 10 years ago, hundreds of hectares of exposed rock fields in the highland commune of Cuc Phuong (Nho Quan) were almost deserted, not even grass could grow. However, this area has the advantage of being close to Cuc Phuong National Park, the air is always fresh and cool. This is also a place with underground mineral water sources combined with the indigenous culture of the ancient Muong people of Cuc Phuong, Ky Phu..., so Nho Quan district has planned this area to attract investment in tourism development. "Good wine needs no bush", some strong enough businesses have recognized the potential of this land and "sown" lush "seeds" on the exposed rock fields.
Mr. Le Quoc Thinh, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Cuc Phuong Tourism Services Joint Stock Company, one of the first enterprises to invest in tourism in the mountainous region of Nho Quan, said: I chose Cuc Phuong to invest in a resort tourism project because this place has all the elements, such as being cared for by the State, pristine natural scenery, fresh environment, rich folk culture and especially the mountainous region of Ninh Binh is an attractive destination that is highly appreciated by businesses in the tourism sector. In addition, the strong growth of domestic and international tourists with long stays has affirmed the brand and position of Ninh Binh tourism.
Currently, Vedana Resort is one of the high-end resort tourism projects not only in Nho Quan district but also in Ninh Binh province. Vedana Resort project has a scale of 16.4 hectares with a series of works such as restaurants, reception houses, conference centers created by more than 200 thousand bamboo trees. Vedana Resort Cuc Phuong is considered the largest bamboo construction in Southeast Asia. Here, the enterprise has also built a Muong Cultural Museum with a scale of 1,000 m2, not only displaying, preserving, and promoting typical cultural artifacts of the Muong ethnic group but also serving the needs of tourists to visit and learn.
After nearly 4 years of operation, Vedana Resort has become an impressive destination attracting tourists to Ninh Binh thanks to its good exploitation of Muong cultural elements and the characteristics of Cuc Phuong National Park, creating an attractiveness for Vedana Resort. In addition to taking care of services such as kayaking, team building, indoor and outdoor activities, the business has focused on coordinating with local people to restore dances, songs, games, lifestyle customs, culinary culture... imbued with Muong ethnic identity to serve tourists staying here. Currently, Vedana Resort is employing more than 200 local workers in all stages of resort operation, with an income of 5-10 million VND/person/month for each job position.
With 86% of the population being Muong ethnic people and the typical natural conditions of the highlands, Cuc Phuong commune has proactively chosen to preserve the cultural values of the Muong ethnic group to develop tourism very early, and has now confirmed that this direction is extremely correct. Comrade Dinh Van Xuan, Chairman of the People's Committee of Cuc Phuong commune, said: Currently, the commune has attracted 3 major tourism projects: Vedana Resort Cuc Phuong, Cuc Phuong Resort & Villas, Cuc Phuong hot mineral bath tourist area. This has opened up a new direction to break the monoculture of agriculture, creating momentum for socio-economic development in the locality. On this basis, the commune has encouraged people to expand service business activities. Up to now, the commune has nearly 30 homestays, restaurants... Cuc Phuong is gradually becoming an indispensable destination for tourists on their journey to explore the land of Ninh Binh, known as "Vietnam in miniature".
Good land attracts "eagles" to nest
Based on those resources, Nho Quan has gradually planned, exploited and formed advantageous tourism products, including: Cultural-historical-spiritual tourism; ecological and resort tourism. In addition, with the advantage of natural landscapes, Nho Quan district has planned to develop a model of ecological-resort-experience farm in Cuc Phuong National Park and the buffer zone of Cuc Phuong, Ky Phu, Yen Quang; ecological tourism combined with resort, health care associated with Kenh Ga-Van Trinh Tourist Area in Lac Van, Duc Long, Thuong Hoa communes; ecological tourism combined with experience of high-tech agricultural and forestry production in Van Phuong, Ky Phu communes...; ecological tourism combined with experience of craft village production in Quynh Luu, Gia Thuy, Son Ha communes...; ecological tourism associated with large natural water bodies in Da Lai lake, Dong Chuong lake...
Comrade Hoang Khac Tiep, Chairman of Nho Quan District People's Committee shared: With the goal of striving for tourism-services to become an economic sector with an increasingly high proportion in the economy, in recent years, the district has actively promoted investment, attracted investment projects in the fields of trade, services-tourism to ensure the correct orientation of the district's socio-economic development planning; continued to call for, encourage, and create favorable conditions for businesses to survey and invest in tourism development, especially large-scale projects, modern entertainment areas to increase the length of stay and spending of tourists; promoted the introduction of unique, attractive, potential, and strong tourism products of the district.
With synchronous and planned solutions, up to now, Nho Quan district has attracted many projects from organizations and individuals to invest in the fields of tourism and culture. Typical examples include: Golden Cuc Phuong Ecological and Villa Construction Project; Cuc Phuong Resort Construction Project; Cuc Phuong Hot Mineral Bathing Tourism Project; Trang An 18-hole Golf Course Construction Project with other additional services such as villas, restaurants, swimming pools, etc.; Dong Chuong Lake Ecological Tourism Project and many projects on restoration and embellishment of historical and cultural relics are implemented every year.
The district has also attracted many potential investors to survey and implement tourism and cultural development projects in the area, such as: Vietnam Construction and Import-Export Joint Stock Corporation (Vinaconex) proposed to study and finance the detailed planning of the Eco-tourism, Cultural, Historical and Resort Urban Area project in Son Ha and Quang Lac communes; Stavian GFS Land Joint Stock Company surveyed and established the Resort project in the Mit Garden-Thung Vin area, Van Phuong commune; Thanh Thuy Hot Spring Joint Stock Company proposed to study and survey and establish the High-class Eco-tourism and Resort project in Yen Quang and Van Phuong communes; H&T Investment Joint Stock Company surveyed and established the detailed planning at a scale of 1/500 for the Eco-tourism and Trade Service Area in Thung Pat, Thung Buong in Sam 1 and Sam 2 villages, Cuc Phuong commune, etc.
Ms. Duong Thi Thanh, President of Ninh Binh Tourism Association shared: Each locality and destination contains a story associated with different cultural values. It is worth noting that the government, functional sectors, relevant units and local communities have initially known how to "tell" their stories with attractive and interesting experiences, thereby attracting strong enough investors to build a tourism ecosystem. In addition, it requires investment, research and methodical operation, with the participation of tourism workers, authorities, destination management units, local communities and cultural and historical experts, thereby balancing the interests of stakeholders to ensure the development of unique and sustainable tourism products.
