Developing specialized processing industry is a driving force for socio-economic development.

DTO - The Provincial People's Committee has developed a plan to implement the Project on developing specialized processing industry combined with developing key industries in Dong Thap province until 2030, with a vision to 2050 (referred to as the Project).

The plan sets out the goal of thoroughly grasping and effectively implementing the tasks and solutions in the Project; improving the capacity and effectiveness of management in implementing the tasks, along with the impact of incentive policies and mechanisms, to promote the specialized processing industry combined with the development of key industries in Dong Thap province to develop rapidly, strongly and sustainably.

The Provincial People's Committee requests departments, branches, sectors and localities, based on their assigned functions and tasks, to direct and promptly implement the main contents and tasks of the plan to develop the specialized processing industry in combination with developing key industries in a synchronous and effective manner; strictly comply with legal regulations, instructions of central ministries and branches and decentralize management according to current regulations.

The province focuses on developing specialized processing industry in the direction of focusing on linking production in the value chain of production - processing and consumption of agricultural and aquatic products from the province's key products (rice, pangasius, lotus and mango, vegetables and fruits) to produce products with high added value. At the same time, calling for and attracting investment in deep processing industries in the fields of processing industry, essential oil extraction industry, incense, medicinal herbs, supporting industry to serve the development of large-scale, modern agricultural and aquatic product processing industry, circular economy serving sustainable export, contributing positively to the proportion in GRDP, increasing budget revenue and export turnover of the province.

In the period of 2021 - 2025, the province strives for the added value of the industrial sector (2010 comparative price) to reach 15,500 billion VND (average growth rate of the period reaching 7.54%); the added value of the agricultural and aquatic product processing industry (2010 comparative price) to reach 11,500 billion VND (average growth rate of the period reaching 4.31%); the production value of the agricultural and aquatic product processing industry (at 2010 price) to reach about 80,700 billion VND (average growth rate of the period reaching 6.05%); over 50% of agricultural and aquatic product processing enterprises to reach advanced or above average technological level and capacity; the proportion of the export value of agricultural and aquatic product processing in the total export turnover of the province (excluding temporary import and re-export) by 2025 to reach 78%/year.

In the period of 2026 - 2030, strive to: the added value of the industrial sector (2010 comparative price) reaches 27,500 billion VND (average growth rate of the period reaches 12.15%); the added value of the agricultural and aquatic product processing industry (2010 comparative price) reaches 20,400 billion VND (average growth rate of the period reaches 12.15%); the production value of the agricultural and aquatic product processing industry (at 2010 price) reaches about 116,000 billion VND (average growth rate of the period reaches 7.53%); over 70% of agricultural and aquatic product processing enterprises achieve advanced or above average technological level and capacity; the proportion of the export value of agricultural and aquatic product processing in the total export turnover of the province (excluding temporary import and re-export) by 2030 reaches 80%/year.

The Provincial People's Committee also set out the orientation for developing deep processing industry as the province's key industry to maintain high average production value growth and driving force for socio-economic development; increase the value of industrial products on the basis of applying mechanization, automation, applying the achievements of the 4.0 industrial revolution in the process of industrial restructuring to increase added value and contribute greatly to the provincial budget. At the same time, establish agricultural and aquatic product processing centers associated with pharmaceutical development and animal feed processing, in which stabilize and develop rice and pangasius processing in the direction of creating many high-value product lines, developing clean raw material growing areas, meeting standards to serve the processing industry.
