Clearly identifying the importance of the militia and self-defense force (MDF) in local construction and development, in recent years, the Phu Tan District Military Command has implemented many solutions to improve the quality of construction and operations of the MDF.

Since joining the militia force of Phu An commune, Phu Tan district, soldier Truong Quang Minh has always performed well in training tasks, working with other forces to patrol, detect, and handle many cases of insecurity and disorder in the locality. Thanks to his good efforts and outstanding achievements, in 2024, militia soldier Truong Quang Minh was admitted to the Party.

Like Truong Quang Minh, many militia soldiers in communes and towns in Phu Tan district are conscious of striving and training well with the desire to achieve achievements and become Party members. As one of the three outstanding masses of Phu My town to be admitted to the Party in 2024, militia soldier Le Tan confided: “Being in the ranks of the Party is both an honor and pride, but also a heavy responsibility. In the coming time, I need to strive to perform my duties better, taking the lead in all local activities.”

According to Lieutenant Colonel Hoang Quoc Thao, Political Commissar of Phu Tan District Military Command, clearly aware of the role of the militia force, in recent times, from the district to the grassroots units have done a good job of selecting militia forces in accordance with regulations. Communes and towns always focus on promoting the role of military agencies in advising, directing, organizing training, ensuring regimes and policies, focusing on building militia forces with a reasonable organizational structure, ensuring sufficient components of military branches, suitable for each locality.

The District Military Command actively and proactively advised the District Party Committee and the District People's Committee to focus on building the militia and self-defense force in the direction of "strong and widespread"; paying special attention to the work of developing the Party in the militia and self-defense force to ensure quantity and improve quality. Up to now, 18/18 communes and towns in the district have military party committees; the fighting strength of the military party committees and party cells has been constantly improved, contributing to the successful completion of military and defense tasks at the grassroots level.

In order to effectively develop the Party in the Militia and Self-Defense Forces, the Phu Tan District Military Command has directed the Military Commands of communes and towns to coordinate with departments, branches and organizations to select and foster resources from movement activities and in performing the task of ensuring security and order, conducting drills, and preventing and fighting natural disasters in the locality... In recent years, many comrades who have matured from the Militia and Self-Defense Forces have held and are holding important positions in the locality.

In particular, the Phu Tan District Military Command advises the Party Committee and the government to orient and direct the militia and self-defense force to proactively coordinate with the Hoa Hao Buddhist Sangha, especially closely coordinate with the grassroots executive committees in communes, wards and towns to effectively carry out mass mobilization work, joining hands to build the homeland. Mr. Nguyen Tan Dat, Head of the Central Executive Committee of the Hoa Hao Buddhist Sangha, said: "The militia and self-defense force regularly coordinates with the Central Executive Committee of the Hoa Hao Buddhist Sangha to effectively implement programs and models, such as: "National target program on new rural construction", "Skilled mass mobilization"... Thanks to that contribution, up to now, Phu Tan district has 9 communes and towns that have met the new rural standards, of which 2 communes have met the advanced new rural standards".
