Promoting the role of political theory education in colleges

Reporting to the working delegation, Deputy Secretary, Vice Principal of Ly Thai To College, Nguyen Van Hang said: Since its establishment in August 2019, Ly Thai To College has organized Political Science courses for 286 graduates and 492 students currently studying. The results show that 100% of students meet the requirements, of which the percentage of students achieving good and excellent grades accounts for about 70%.

The school has actively innovated the content and teaching methods of Politics in a flexible way, combining theory with practice. In addition to classroom hours, the school organizes many propaganda activities and extracurricular programs to help students acquire knowledge in a lively way, while accumulating good cultural and historical values ​​of the nation.

Through the Youth Union, many meaningful activities are regularly carried out, such as: screening revolutionary films on major national anniversaries; organizing competitions to learn and follow Ho Chi Minh's ideology, morality and style; taking outstanding members to visit historical and cultural sites. These are practical activities, contributing to fostering patriotism, raising political awareness, and consolidating ideological stance for students.

Through that, students love their homeland and country more, are grateful for the sacrifices of previous generations, proactively practice and study to become excellent citizens, contributing to building and developing the country in the new era.

However, the school also frankly acknowledged some shortcomings and limitations in the teaching of Political Theory such as: The team of political theory lecturers is not uniform, lacking practical experience; the teaching content is still heavy on theory, lacking connection and integration with professional practice, not creating attraction and appeal for learners. The common psychology of students is to take the subject lightly because they think it is not directly related to future work, which leads to a lack of interest in studying.

Speaking at the meeting, comrade Ngo Dong Hai, member of the Party Central Committee, Deputy Head of the Central Propaganda and Mass Mobilization Commission, affirmed that the work of political theory education in particular, as well as the work of ideology, education and training of people in general, is always the top requirement and task that our Party sets for Party organizations, agencies, sectors and the whole society. This is also the noble goal of building Vietnamese people with comprehensive development, building a quality workforce, contributing to the successful implementation of the goal of building a sustainable society as the Party has determined and our people are striving for.

Comrade Ngo Dong Hai suggested that the education and training sector promptly advise the Provincial People's Committee to pay more attention to political theory education in the national education system, from high school to college and university levels, especially not to miss colleges in the province. For the school, this is a well-invested, modern educational institution, meeting development trends and practical needs. The training majors are selected in accordance with market requirements, the facilities are synchronous, meeting standards, approaching international standards.

Emphasizing the role of Ly Thai To College for Bac Ninh province in general, not just Tu Son city, is extremely important. The school not only contributes to the strategy of training and developing high-quality human resources, but also plays an important role in enhancing the position, status and attractiveness of the investment environment in Bac Ninh. The force of graduates has become a key human resource, making practical contributions to production facilities and enterprises in the province.

The Deputy Head of the Central Propaganda and Mass Mobilization Commission hopes that teachers and schools will pay attention and have a correct and complete understanding of the requirements for political theory education in colleges. Although it does not impose heavy requirements and does not require a systematic approach like in universities, political theory education in colleges is extremely necessary and cannot be taken lightly. We are training people - future citizens, so when they step into society, they not only need professional skills but also need to be well-rounded people. They need to be fully equipped with thinking, philosophy of life, methodology, outlook on life, and then professional skills. Especially, in the context of a part of students lacking basic knowledge, the responsibility of training and compensation of schools becomes even more important.

Comrade Ngo Dong Hai suggested that the curriculum of Ly Thai To College should be adjusted and updated promptly, and at the same time closely linked with experiential activities on history and tradition education, to improve the effectiveness of ideological and theoretical education. At the same time, he hoped that teachers would continue to pay attention to improving the quality of teaching, innovating teaching methods so that students really feel love and interest in this subject. The assessment method also needs to be substantial, avoiding formality and wasting effort.

"The meaning and objectives of the subject are extremely great, but if the results are too small, it is clear that we need to review the implementation. I hope that teachers will pay special attention to this so that students not only learn to know, but also deeply understand, feel and apply it in practice" - Comrade Ngo Dong Hai emphasized.

Comrade Ngo Dong Hai also expressed his hope that in the coming time, the school will continue to make efforts to innovate, further promote the role of the subject, and at the same time improve the quality of training in general, thereby creating a foundation for strong and sustainable development.
