But after establishing a crowded, vibrant, competitive and strongly developing container transport market, in the past 10 years, Da Nang port has always been the leader in terms of output and import and export goods through Da Nang port have almost reached a "balanced" position. This shows that: First, the production, circulation and consumption capacity of the rear area of Da Nang port is developing strongly. Second, the cost of sea transport at Da Nang port is highly competitive when there are many shipping lines calling at the port and the volume of goods is large enough. Third, Da Nang port has performed very well its mission of ensuring the safe and fast flow of goods as well as demonstrating its leading role in the seaport block in the Central region. The new vision of Lien Chieu port area put into operation will certainly raise the level of Da Nang city in terms of providing seaport services. As the "child" of the city for over 123 years and with its current "stature", Da Nang port needs to be facilitated by the competent authorities to "join" the "playground" of Lien Chieu port. This helps to solve the problem of preserving the brand of Da Nang port as well as being a premise to handle the problem of converting the function of Tien Sa port into a tourist port. Therefore, first of all, for Da Nang port to "join" the "playground" of Lien Chieu port, the functional departments and branches from local to central levels need to have mechanisms and planning policies for Da Nang port to be a part of the overall Lien Chieu port with synchronous infrastructure (breakwater, channel, turning basin, road traffic connection) so that Da Nang port can invest in building a new port before 2030 to serve the relocation of cargo exploitation function for Tien Sa port, as well as so that Da Nang port can soon have the conditions to develop a plan to convert the function of Tien Sa port into a tourist port; Gradually transfer the labor force and invested equipment to the new port, take advantage of resources and experience in port exploitation activities, stabilize production and business and workers' lives, avoid wasting a lot of enterprise resources and not losing State capital in a State-owned enterprise. Timely investment in ports in Lien Chieu port area, synchronous with the progress of shared infrastructure being invested in construction, also avoids wasting a lot of State capital invested in component A of Lien Chieu port.Perspective of Lien Chieu port
Because according to Decision No. 1579/QD-TTg dated September 22, 2021 of the Prime Minister, when Lien Chieu port is put into operation and after 2030, Tien Sa port will gradually convert its function into a tourist port and Lien Chieu port area will be the last area planned to develop the remaining seaport of Da Nang city. Recently, on October 8, 2024, Da Nang port sent Official Dispatch No. 1323/CDN-KTCT on the relocation of cargo exploitation function from Tien Sa port to Lien Chieu port to the Prime Minister requesting consideration and comments to the competent authorities with the following content: Firstly, regarding the relocation of cargo exploitation function of Tien Sa port: Decision on investment policy for the project of 2 starting wharves according to the investment call of Da Nang City People's Committee proposed in the dossier that Da Nang port has submitted validly and is being consulted by the Ministry of Planning and Investment with relevant Ministries for appraisal. Assign Da Nang port as the investor of 2 starting wharves. Plan a part of Lien Chieu port to assign Da Nang port to invest in building a new port before 2030 to relocate cargo exploitation function to Tien Sa port, in order to ensure the maintenance of current cargo exploitation capacity with at least 1,700m of wharf. Or plan a part of Lien Chieu port to hand over to Da Nang port to invest in building a new port before 2030 to relocate the cargo exploitation function to Tien Sa port, to ensure the maintenance of the current cargo exploitation capacity with at least 1,700m of wharf. Second, regarding the conversion of Tien Sa port function, Da Nang port will coordinate with management agencies to implement the conversion into a tourism exploitation port, contributing to the development of tourism and in accordance with the general planning of Da Nang city. Highly aware of its historical role and mission, Da Nang port always innovates itself, adapting to the period of accelerating industrialization and modernization of the country. The leaders of Da Nang port always want to "settle down and make a living", so they have been building a new strategy, reorganizing the production and business apparatus to be ready to "join the playground" of Lien Chieu port - a green, smart port on par with the world's leading seaports. The seaport in the Da Nang area has an extremely important geostrategic position, Da Nang port, a state-owned enterprise, has contributed greatly to ensuring the consolidation and maintenance of national security and defense in recent times.
