Promoting the role of the Women's Union in military rear work

This year's military recruitment season, the Women's Union at all levels in the province has been doing a good job in the military's rear area, organizing many practical and meaningful programs and activities to encourage young people to confidently go to fulfill their military service.

After the Tet holiday of Giap Thin, Nguyen Tung Duong in Phu Thu village, Son Thanh commune, Nho Quan district is busy preparing for his upcoming journey of nearly 2 years in the army. In just a few days, Duong will leave to perform his military service. He is both happy and worried. Happy because he was lucky enough to be selected, to contribute part of his youth to carry out his duty to the Fatherland, worried because his family is short of people, his grandmother and father are in poor health, when he leaves to join the army, he will not have much time to take care of them.

Tung Duong is one of 90 children sponsored by the "Godmother" Program of the Women's Union of Ninh Binh province. His family is in difficult circumstances, his mother died early, his grandmother and father are in poor health, and his younger brother is still young, so Duong has become the mainstay of the family.

"In the past time, the Women's Union at all levels has always been interested in promoting and orienting me about patriotism, the spirit of "mutual love and support" and the will and aspiration to rise up in life, and to properly implement the Law on Military Service. Therefore, after completing high school, I wrote an application to volunteer for military service," Tung Duong shared.

Before the day of enlistment, great joy came to Duong's family when receiving attention from agencies and units of the province and district, in which the District Women's Union supported 41 million VND to repair the house and auxiliary works. The encouragement, sharing, material and spiritual support from the Party Committee, local government, agencies and organizations helped Duong feel secure to join the army, strive to train and strive to complete the assigned tasks in the military environment.

Comrade Dinh Thi Thanh Thuy, President of the Women's Union of Son Thanh commune, said: The Women's Union of the commune has coordinated with departments, branches, and organizations to visit, encourage, and give gifts to 9 young people who will join the army in 2024, hoping that the young people will continue to strive in the new environment.

In 2024, Kim Son district was assigned to select and call 306 young people to participate in military service. The Women's Union at all levels has closely followed the grassroots, actively participated with the Military Service Councils of localities to visit each family to inquire about and grasp the situation of young people of the right age to mobilize young people who are eligible to join the army according to regulations; encouraged families and young people to prepare well mentally, ready to carry out health examination orders when notified.

Comrade Dao Thi Thanh Thom, Vice President of the Kim Son District Women's Union, said: The District Women's Union visited and presented 36 gifts to 36 new recruits in difficult circumstances with a total amount of 14.5 million VND; the Women's Unions of communes, towns and women's associations in the district visited and presented 427 gifts with a total amount of 46.1 million VND to 306 new recruits. In addition, the Women's Unions at all levels coordinated to organize 323 cultural, artistic and folk dance exchanges to create a joyful and exciting atmosphere for the young people before the military enlistment day.

Promoting the role as members of the Military Service Council at all levels, in recent times, the Women's Union at all levels in the province has actively advised Party committees and authorities on the implementation of local defense and military tasks. Proactively developing plans to direct grassroots units to coordinate propaganda on the selection and calling of citizens to join the army; mobilizing children of military age to participate in military service. Grasping the ideological situation and aspirations of young people of military age, young people selected for military service, paying attention to cases of young people with difficult family circumstances to encourage and create favorable conditions for young people to feel secure and ready to join the army.

The Women's Union at all levels also propagates to cadres and women's union members, especially families of members and women with children of military service age, to understand the purpose, meaning, rights and obligations of citizens when participating in military service, thereby actively educating and encouraging their children to voluntarily write applications for military service. At the same time, coordinate to organize exchange activities, visit and give gifts to new recruits leaving for military service.

During the 2024 military recruitment season, the Women's Union at all levels organized visits and presented 871 gifts to new recruits preparing to join the army with a total value of more than 435 million VND; coordinated with the Provincial Military Command, the Provincial Youth Union and units to organize "Military Enlistment Day" in Yen Mo district with many meaningful and practical activities such as offering incense and reporting achievements at the district's Martyrs' Cemetery; planted more than 1 km of "Military-Civilian Solidarity" tree-lined road in Han Duoi village, Yen Dong commune; organized cultural exchanges and talks on "Aspiration to Contribute - Firm Steps to the Future"...

The attention and encouragement of the Women's Union at all levels in the province shows the affection and responsibility of the organization in the work of the military rear. Thereby, promptly motivating and encouraging young people to promote the vanguard role of the youth, constantly train, study, strive to excellently complete assigned tasks, and devote their youth to building and defending the Fatherland.
