Promoting heroic historical traditions, steadily building the homeland

In the heroic atmosphere of the historic April days, every Binh Thuan citizen recalls the sacred moment of 49 years ago, which was the Liberation Day of the Homeland (April 19, 1975) and the Day of the complete liberation of the South and reunification of the country (April 30, 1975). Nearly half a century after the triumphant song, overcoming many difficulties and challenges, the Party Committee, government, army and people of Binh Thuan have been and are making efforts to build their homeland, the changes today bear a truly proud mark.

Glorious historical journey

President Ho Chi Minh's call "Rather sacrifice everything than lose the country, never become slaves" has become a sacred command of the mind and heart of every Vietnamese person. Under the wise leadership of the Party and Uncle Ho, the army and people of the whole country overcame countless difficulties, achieved glorious feats, the peak of which was the General Offensive and Uprising in the Spring of 1975, ending with the complete victory of the historic Ho Chi Minh Campaign, completely liberating the South and reunifying the country.

To achieve that victory, the army and people of Binh Thuan and Binh Tuy continuously attacked and rose up for 51 days and nights (March 8, 1975 - April 27, 1975) to completely liberate their homeland, the country was reunited, and the North and South were reunited. Going back in history to April 9, 1975, the leaders of Military Region VI and Binh Thuan province decided to establish the Binh Thuan Liberation Command. From April 10 to 12, the armed forces of Military Region VI, the province and Ham Thuan district captured a number of key enemy targets on Route 8, from An Phu to Tan An, Tan Dien... On the afternoon of April 17, 1975, Tuy Phong district was liberated. On the morning of April 18, 1975, Hoa Da, Phan Ly and Hai Ninh districts were liberated one after another. At 8:00 p.m. on April 18, 1975, we attacked Phan Thiet, the enemy quickly disintegrated, laid down their weapons and surrendered to the liberation army. At 9:00 a.m. on April 19, 1975, the Military Management Committee took over Phan Thiet. On April 23, 1975, Ham Tan was liberated. With the support of the 382nd Naval Group, on the night of April 26, 1975, the 482nd Battalion of the province, the 490th Company and a number of cadres of Tuy Phong district crossed the sea to Cu Lao Thu Island (Phu Quy). At 4:00 a.m. on April 27, 1975, our army opened fire. After more than 1 hour of fierce fighting, the enemy laid down their weapons and surrendered. After 51 days and nights (March 8 - April 27, 1975) of continuous attacks and uprisings, the army and people of Binh Thuan and Binh Tuy completely liberated their homeland, contributing with the army and people of the whole country to establish the great victory of Spring 1975, completely liberating the South and unifying the country. After more than 21 years of steadfast fighting, the army and people of Binh Thuan achieved many glorious feats, worthy of the 12 golden words that the Party and State awarded: "Self-reliance, self-strengthening, heroic fighting, glorious victory".

Steady step forward

After the liberation day, the Party Committee, army and people of Binh Thuan focused on overcoming the consequences of war, gradually restoring and developing the economy. After 49 years of liberation, the Party Committee, government, army and people of Binh Thuan have promoted the heroic spirit of the land and people of Binh Thuan, achieving important achievements in all fields. From a province with many difficulties, the Party Committee, army and people of Binh Thuan have strived to achieve many positive results in all aspects. The economy has developed quite rapidly, economic growth is always higher than the national average, creating a clear change in renewing the growth model; improving production capacity and economic scale.

Notably, in 2023, Binh Thuan took advantage of opportunities, overcame difficulties and challenges, achieved many positive and comprehensive results in all fields, achieved and exceeded the plan of 14/17 main socio-economic development targets set. The brightest point is that the 3 fields identified as the province's economic pillars continued to grow. The province's economy continued to grow well. The economic scale of the province reached more than 100 trillion VND; the gross domestic product (GRDP) in 2023 increased by 8.1% compared to 2022, ranking 14/63 provinces and cities and 4/14 provinces and cities in the North Central and Central Coast regions; this result is a remarkable progress when in 2022 it only increased by 7.75%, and ranked 45/63 provinces and cities nationwide, 10/14 localities in the region. Average income per capita reached 54.3 million VND, an increase of 5.1% compared to 2022.

In 2023, the province will welcome 8.35 million visitors, an increase of 45.98%; tourism revenue is estimated at VND 22,300 billion, an increase of 63%. Industrial production value increased by 3.8%, of which electricity production and distribution increased by 11.66%. Agricultural production is stable. The new rural construction program continues to receive attention and direction. Up to now, the whole province has 2 districts and 74 communes meeting new rural standards; of which, 4 communes have met advanced new rural standards. In addition, the cultural and social fields have many positive changes, the quality of education has been improved, social security and social welfare have been well implemented, the poverty rate has decreased; per capita income increased by 5.1% compared to 2022. Digital transformation has had initial results, typically, Phan Thiet city has put into operation the Smart Urban Operations Center. The urban and rural areas continue to be invested in and renovated, becoming more beautiful and spacious than before. National defense, security, order and social safety in the province are maintained...

Celebrating the 49th anniversary of the liberation of Binh Thuan province (April 19, 1975 - April 19, 2024) and the 49th anniversary of the liberation of the South and national reunification (April 30, 1975 - April 30, 2024), we review the heroic history of the nation, look back on the journey of fighting, building and developing the country; express gratitude to generations of fathers and brothers, comrades and compatriots across the country who contributed their human, material and blood resources to the cause of liberating the homeland and the country; be more proud of the cultural Fatherland, the heroic People, the glorious Party, and the great President Ho Chi Minh. From there, we will have a deeper understanding of the values ​​and lessons learned from the practical struggles of the nation to add strength, will and determination to successfully implement the Resolution of the 13th National Party Congress and the Resolution of the 14th Binh Thuan Provincial Party Congress for the 2020-2025 term, contributing to the cause of building and firmly defending the socialist Vietnamese Fatherland.
