79 years ago, the success of the August Revolution in 1945 changed the fate of the country, opening a new era - the era of national independence associated with socialism, establishing the Democratic Republic of Vietnam - the first workers' and peasants' state in Southeast Asia. The great victory of the August Revolution has great significance not only for the Vietnamese people, but also for all colonial and semi-colonial peoples around the world.

During those historic days, in an extremely urgent atmosphere and seething revolutionary spirit, on August 13, 1945, although not yet receiving the Central Committee's order for a General Uprising, the Thanh Hoa Provincial Party Committee held an expanded conference in Mao Xa village, Thieu Toan commune, Thieu Hoa district to decide on policies and measures to be ready to launch a People's uprising to seize power. Immediately after receiving the Central Committee's directive, on the night of August 18 to the morning of August 19, 1945, the Uprising Committee issued the order for a General Uprising to seize power. The people and self-defense forces of the districts rose up like a storm. In just 4 days (from August 19 to August 21), Thanh Hoa town (now Thanh Hoa city) and all the plain districts and two mountainous districts (Thach Thanh, Cam Thuy) rose up to overthrow the feudal colonial government and establish a People's democratic government. By the end of August 1945, the General Uprising to seize power in Thanh Hoa province had won a brilliant victory, the government was completely in the hands of the people, contributing with the people of the whole country to the great victory of the Vietnamese nation.
Continuing and promoting the tradition of the homeland, over the past 79 years, under the leadership of the Party and beloved Uncle Ho, Thanh Hoa has gone from one victory to another. The growth rate of the province is currently among the top in the country. All economic sectors have clearly and positively changed. The cultural and social sectors have many improvements with many outstanding achievements. National defense - security, social order and safety are ensured. The spirit of solidarity within the Party, within the political system, and among the people is increasingly strengthened. The role and position of Thanh Hoa towards the Central Government, other provinces and cities, and foreign partners are increasingly enhanced. Identifying 2024 as a decisive year in successfully implementing the goals and tasks of the 2020-2025 term, the Party Committee, government, army and people of all ethnic groups in Thanh Hoa province, with high determination, great efforts and firm belief in the Party's leadership, will overcome all difficulties and challenges to successfully implement the Resolution of the 13th National Party Congress, Resolution 58 of the Politburo, Resolution of the 19th Provincial Party Congress, making Thanh Hoa a new growth pole in the North of the country; becoming a rich province as the late General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong once instructed; becoming a model province as beloved Uncle Ho always wished; worthy of the sacrifices of generations of fathers and brothers for today's independence.
79 Autumns have passed, but the spirit and will of the August Revolution remain intact and shine more and more, urging us to move forward, realizing the aspiration to build a strong country, a prosperous homeland, "standing shoulder to shoulder with the great powers of the five continents".
