With the spirit of not fearing danger, all "serving the people", over the years, the youth of the Vietnam Coast Guard have always thoroughly grasped the political tasks, often taking the lead, being present promptly at places where natural disasters and incidents occur, clearly demonstrating their role as the shock force, the core in responding to incidents, overcoming the consequences of natural disasters, and rescuing and saving lives in the seas of the Fatherland.

In the search and rescue work at sea, the members and youth of the Coast Guard are the pioneers in maintaining strict combat readiness at all units in the force. With the motto of being quick, timely, safe, effective and highly professional, the youth of the Coast Guard have participated in hundreds of rescue trips, contributing to ensuring the safety of fishermen's lives and property during their activities at sea.

In particular, in 2024, the Coast Guard youth participated in 28 search and rescue missions; rescued 83 people and 3 vehicles in distress at sea; recovered and handed over 11 bodies to relevant authorities; donated thousands of necessities, life jackets, lifebuoys and propaganda materials on ensuring safety for fishermen while operating at sea.

In the work of preventing, combating and overcoming the consequences of natural disasters, the members and youth of the Coast Guard have clearly demonstrated their pioneering role through the mass mobilization program "Coast Guard accompanies fishermen" and many other social security activities.

Notably, when storm No. 3 (Yagi) made landfall and swept through the northern provinces of our country in September 2024, members and youth of agencies and units of the Vietnam Coast Guard stationed in the northern provinces and cities closely followed the practical situation, promoted their responsibilities and pioneering roles, established 17 mobile teams with the participation of nearly 1,100 officers, soldiers and 75 vehicles, together with local Party committees, authorities and people to drastically and synchronously implement many measures to prevent, combat and overcome consequences before, during and after the storm made landfall.

As a result, the units received and processed 11 search and rescue reports; successfully rescued 43 crew members/7 ships and barges in distress at sea. With outstanding achievements in preventing, combating and overcoming the consequences of storm No. 3 in the area of ​​​​station, the youth of the Coast Guard Region 1 Command and the unit were honored to receive the Third Class Fatherland Protection Medal.

In the South, facing the prolonged hot weather and saltwater intrusion in some localities in 2024, the Coast Guard youth always took the lead in reaching out to the people, accompanying the people through social security activities; participating in firefighting of hundreds of hectares of forest; transporting and donating 4,000 bottles of purified water and 3,260m³ of fresh water to local people, thereby contributing to supporting people to quickly stabilize their lives.

In the work of disease prevention and control and marine environment protection, the youth of the Coast Guard have actively and proactively participated in implementing mass mobilization programs and social security activities.

In 2024, union members, youth and military doctors of the units participated in examining, consulting and distributing free medicine to nearly 1,400 policy beneficiaries and people in the areas; donated hundreds of medicine cabinets to fishermen; sprayed disinfectants, provided instructions on how to prevent and experience in handling some types of epidemics to people in coastal localities.

Coordinate with local socio-political organizations in the country and related countries in controlling and overcoming oil spills, cleaning hundreds of kilometers of coastline, collecting and treating thousands of tons of waste, thereby contributing to preventing infectious diseases in the community, raising awareness of environmental hygiene not only for local people, but also spreading the spirit of protecting the marine environment to international friends.

These are some of the highlights in the work of preventing and fighting natural disasters, epidemics, rescue, and protecting the marine environment among hundreds and thousands of silent feats in the seas and islands that the youth of the Vietnam Coast Guard have carried out in recent years.

Along with the task of enforcing the law and protecting the sovereignty of the sea and islands of the Fatherland, the youth of the Coast Guard always stick together and accompany the people, participating in building increasingly strong military-civilian solidarity and an increasingly solid national defense.

Through concrete actions and practical work, generations of union members and young people of the Vietnam Coast Guard have been strongly promoting the spirit of shock, creativity and pioneering of Vietnamese youth and Army youth on all fronts, thereby contributing to affirming the role and image of the force in key tasks, at difficult times and in the harshest areas.
