Industry and Trade Newspaper had an interview with Ms. Nguyen Thi Thu Thuy - Deputy Director of Export Support Center, Trade Promotion Agency (Ministry of Industry and Trade) on this issue.
With a series of conferences promoting trade and developing import and export in key economic regions since the beginning of the year, could you tell us how regional trade promotion is different this year, especially in supporting the consumption of key products for localities ?

Through the practical process of implementing trade promotion activities, it is clear that trade promotion activities conducted alone cannot be as effective as trade promotion activities with joint efforts and scale. The first lesson we have learned is the lesson learned from the story of the bundle of chopsticks. That is, divided into parts, we are weak, but together, we are strong.
Therefore, in the current profound trend of globalization of the world economy, large-scale trade promotion activities are no exception. And with the spirit of always being dynamic, creative, finding innovative methods in trade promotion activities, since the end of last year, the Ministry of Industry and Trade has included in the Ministry's work program a series of trade promotion conferences of a regional nature and implemented throughout all 6 economic regions.
Accordingly, since the beginning of the year, the Ministry of Industry and Trade has also implemented 5 conference programs and on September 6, the remaining conference will be held in Can Tho City on trade promotion and import-export development for the Mekong Delta region.
Through these events, with the participation of localities in the region, the synergy of intelligence and other resources has created many new ideas to better exploit future trade promotion activities.
In particular, this is also an opportunity for subjects in the field of trade promotion including central agencies, local agencies, industry associations, businesses and many other subjects of the trade promotion ecosystem to exchange and find trade promotion solutions that are more cohesive and synergistic among units, aiming to serve the business community participating in the trade process not only in the domestic market but also in foreign markets effectively.
Through a series of policy mechanisms that the Government and the Ministry of Industry and Trade have issued to effectively promote trade promotion in recent times, how do you evaluate the impact of these policies on promoting regional and local linkages in trade promotion?
Looking back at the content of the 13th Party Congress, we can see that there is a very important content, which is to prioritize focusing on strengthening industry linkages, strengthening intra-regional and inter-regional linkages, promoting participation in global production value chains and distribution chains.

In trade promotion, the Government and the Ministry of Industry and Trade have recently set out many mechanisms and policies to facilitate the promotion of regional linkages by making plans for the development of economic zones, establishing Regional Coordination Groups, etc.
Specifically, policies through major programs such as: National Trade Promotion Program; National Brand Program; Brand Development Program in the field of agricultural products and food. These programs prioritize localities to discuss, find and cooperate to carry out activities with the participation of at least 2 localities or more and of a number of key, key industries with certain strengths of each locality.
Through these programs, we have seen the participation of businesses helping to make the implementation of the program more clear and sharper than in the previous period. With priority policies focusing on the core and key points in enhancing larger-scale, more connected activities, this will be one of the main directions in the coming time.
Although the Government and relevant agencies have made great efforts in promoting trade with key products in localities, in reality, there are still many challenges. In the coming time, as a state management agency, what activities will the Department implement to support businesses, industries and localities to strengthen chain linkages in production and regional linkages in trade promotion activities?
When taking businesses to promote trade in foreign markets, we also meet many importers and they highly appreciate the quality, design and many products of Vietnam. However, when it comes to supply quantity, most businesses are currently unable to meet it. Therefore, there must be drastic measures in production linkage and must ensure close compliance with the criteria of import markets to have a large quantity of goods to serve trade promotion activities with a higher scale of regional and international linkage.
In the coming time, the Trade Promotion Agency will carry out many activities. According to the plan, in addition to continuing to hold conferences on trade promotion, developing import and export according to the scale of each economic region to continue to find out the highlights that need to be further explored for trade promotion activities, next year, the Ministry of Industry and Trade will test a new regional trade promotion support model, which is the model of organizing trade delegations abroad according to the regional scale and we call it in English "Winning with Vietnam - Winning with Vietnam".
The Ministry of Industry and Trade will pilot a new regional trade promotion support model – organizing trade delegations abroad on a regional scale. |
In particular, businesses and localities now have a need to go out into the world to survey the market, learn about operating models and trade promotion models. However, this will lead to problems such as difficulty in accessing the market and dispersion of resources. Therefore, the Ministry of Industry and Trade has developed a plan to organize larger-scale promotion programs, with larger participating delegations... creating a higher communication effect for businesses at events. This will also be one of the key activities in supporting regional trade promotion that the Ministry of Industry and Trade will implement in 2025.
In addition, we will also continue to find trade promotion measures with greater synergy between localities and businesses in the coming time, hoping that localities and businesses will enthusiastically support Vietnamese goods to step out into the world with a scale and position that is increasingly stronger and more stable.
Thank you!
