DNVN - Sharing at the workshop "Global semiconductor equipment supply chain: Opportunities for Vietnam's manufacturing industry" on November 7, Mr. Kees van Baar - Ambassador of the Netherlands to Vietnam said that the semiconductor equipment manufacturing supply chain has the participation of many large and small enterprises. Vietnam can promote the supporting industry to participate deeply in the value chain.
In the context of the strong Industrial Revolution 4.0, the semiconductor industry plays a key role in the development of many high-tech fields. Vietnam, as one of the countries with the fastest economic growth rate in Southeast Asia, is facing a great opportunity to participate more deeply in the supply chain, especially in the field of equipment manufacturing.
Speaking at the opening ceremony of the workshop “Global Semiconductor Supply Chain: Opportunities for Vietnam’s Manufacturing Industry”, Mr. Nguyen Duc Tam - Deputy Minister of Planning and Investment emphasized the importance of the semiconductor industry to the sustainable development of Vietnam’s economy. At the same time, he affirmed the Government’s determination to create a favorable environment for the development of this industry.
Vietnam is expected to become a center for supplying raw materials, components, and assembly clusters for the semiconductor equipment manufacturing industry.
Mr. Kees van Baar - Ambassador of the Netherlands to Vietnam said that the semiconductor equipment manufacturing supply chain is very large with the participation of many large and small enterprises around the world in many segments. Vietnam can fully utilize and promote the existing supporting industry to participate more deeply in this value chain.
Equipment manufacturing is the backbone of the Dutch semiconductor industry. The Netherlands is ready to cooperate with Vietnam to contribute to the overall development of the global semiconductor industry.
In the context of the booming global semiconductor industry, Vietnam is expected to become a center for supplying raw materials, components, assemblies, etc. for the semiconductor equipment manufacturing industry. From there, it will gradually enter deeper into the value chain of the global semiconductor equipment industry. With an abundant human resource base and competitive production costs, Vietnam is capable of exploiting these opportunities to grow strongly.
At the workshop, speakers stated that building a support ecosystem for the semiconductor industry, especially in equipment manufacturing, is extremely necessary. Connection and cooperation between domestic and foreign enterprises will be a key factor in improving competitiveness and sustainable development for Vietnamese enterprises when participating in this value chain.
The speakers also said that developing high-quality human resources in the semiconductor equipment sector is a long-term process, requiring the efforts and cooperation of many stakeholders. Vietnam needs to prepare high-quality human resources, including a team of specialized engineers and skilled workers, to meet the specific requirements of this industry.
