Discovered "super fraud doctor", faked university and college teaching degrees

PhD is not correct.

Speaking to Dan Tri reporter, the leader of Vietnam College of Industry and Trade said that last October, the unit identified a case of using a fake doctorate degree to apply to teach at the school.

Doctorate degree in computer science by NTH (born August 13, 1981) awarded in 2021 (diploma number QH: 22086798528xx). He also holds a master's degree in computer science awarded in 2010.

All diplomas show the place of issue as University of Science, Vietnam National University, Ho Chi Minh City.

In early September this year, Mr. NTH was accepted to work at Vietnam College of Industry and Trade on a probationary basis.

Then, on September 18, Mr. NTH was appointed to the position of Head of Information Technology Department.

The leader of Vietnam College of Industry and Trade said: "Mr. NTH boasted that he had taught master's degrees at many schools, including one in Nha Trang. When submitting his application, Mr. H. submitted a notarized degree, so it was very difficult for the school to verify the accuracy of the degree."

After receiving some information reflecting doubts about Mr. H's degree in October, the school conducted verification.

"We sent the original notarized doctoral degree in NTH's name to the University of Natural Sciences, Vietnam National University, Ho Chi Minh City for verification. The result was inconsistent with the data stored at the University of Natural Sciences," said the school's leader.

According to the leader, the school called Mr. H. to work, but he still insisted that the degree was correct. The school asked Mr. H. to return to the University of Natural Sciences to work and submit the verification results. However, Mr. H. then submitted a resignation letter in early November, citing family matters.

"Mr. H. said he was very sad because we hired him but did not trust his qualifications. After that, he submitted his resignation and we could not contact Mr. H. anymore. His phone was turned off," said the school leader.

During his time at the school, as the head of the department, Mr. NTH taught a number of classes.

Because the incident was discovered in a short period of time, the school believes that the training process of the students will not be affected by this incident, because Mr. H. has not been assigned any credits.

The University of Natural Sciences, Vietnam National University, Ho Chi Minh City also confirmed that the doctoral degree of NTH mentioned above is not consistent with the data stored at the school.

Ever "scammed" some universities?

The leader of a university in Ho Chi Minh City said he had received an application for the position of head of the computer science department with the same name as NTH (born August 13, 1981), majoring in computer science (diploma number QH: 0220018000xx, issued on September 15, 2022).

According to this person, the information about the doctorate degree under the name NTH submitted to the Vietnam College of Industry and Trade is only different from the information submitted to this university in terms of the number and year of issuance, but the name and person are quite similar.

"When we received this person's profile, we immediately verified it because we suspected the information was correct. There are not many experts in this industry and my school's human resources team did not know about this "Doctor NTH", so we immediately raised questions," he said.

According to the leader of this unit, the school also looked up the diploma number QH: 22086798528xx that Mr. H. submitted and it showed another person's name.

"He 'advertised' himself as having taught many graduate classes at famous universities. He even sent us photos. Fortunately, our recruitment board discovered this problem early and refused to accept him," said a representative of a university in Ho Chi Minh City.

Another school leader also said that he had taught for 2 days before the school discovered that his qualifications were incorrect and so he quit his job.

Up to now, up to 5 universities and colleges in Ho Chi Minh City have confirmed to reporters that Mr. H. had contacted him to apply for a job, to work officially or to lecture. However, after discovering the degree issue, Mr. NTH cut off all contact with the school.

Dan Tri reporters have repeatedly contacted the phone number 0983064xxx that Mr. H. used to apply for a job at a university or college. Once, Mr. H. picked up the phone but after hearing the introduction that a newspaper reporter was calling to verify the information, he immediately hung up.

Another time, the person who answered the phone said the reporter had dialed the wrong number, the phone number was not from someone named NTH but from someone named Thang.

After the reporter questioned that this phone number was being used on Zalo with the cover photo and profile picture of Mr. NTH, this person said that he did not use the Zalo number. However, just 1 minute later, the images believed to be of Dr. NTH disappeared from the Zalo of the above phone number.
