New cave with underground river flowing through discovered in Quang Binh

On September 7, Mr. Hoang Trong Duc, Chairman of the People's Committee of Truong Son Commune (Quang Ninh District, Quang Binh Province), said that local people had just discovered a new cave in Diu Do village.

After being discovered by local people, local authorities organized a survey to make an overall assessment and explore further.

The cave is about 7km from the center of Truong Son commune, the road to the cave entrance is convenient.

The survey team had to cross the cat's ear rocks to get into the cave.

Currently, people are temporarily calling this new cave "Son Nu Cave". The cave is 1.5km long, the cave entrance is 30m high, inside the cave there is an underground river originating from the Vietnam - Laos border, passing through Doc May village and flowing to Son Nu Cave.

Truong Son Commune People's Committee reported to Quang Ninh District People's Committee about the discovery of a new cave.

“After participating in the survey trip and witnessing the scenery in the cave, we made a report to the district level and proposed calling for investment in tourism in the commune. The tourism plan in the cave area is very feasible, but it mainly serves tourists in the summer because it is very dangerous to go there during the rainy season,” said Mr. Duc.

Previously, in March 2023, during a 3-week survey, the British Royal Caves Association (BCRA) discovered 22 more pristine caves in Minh Hoa, Tuyen Hoa districts and Phong Nha - Ke Bang area.

The total length of the caves is nearly 12km. Of these, 20 caves were discovered in Lam Hoa commune (Tuyen Hoa district) and 2 communes Hoa Phuc and Hoa Son (Minh Hoa district); the remaining 2 caves are in Phong Nha - Ke Bang National Park.

Most of the caves above are wet caves, still retaining their wild beauty. Many caves also have underground river systems and some other caves are connected to each other./.
