(QNO) - This morning, June 2, at Dao Nguyen Pagoda (Tam Ky City), the Executive Committee of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha (VBS) in the province held the Buddha's Birthday Celebration, Buddhist calendar 2567 - Gregorian calendar 2023.
Attending the ceremony were Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Le Tri Thanh; Head of the Provincial Party Committee's Mass Mobilization Commission Huynh Thi Thuy Dung; Vice Chairman of the Provincial Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee Le Thai Binh, along with representatives of provincial departments, Tam Ky City and a large number of Buddhists in the province.
In a solemn atmosphere, Most Venerable Elder Thich Thien Thanh read the Buddha's Birthday Message 2567 from the Supreme Patriarch of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha to monks, nuns, and Buddhist laypeople at home and abroad.
Next, Most Venerable Thich Phuoc Minh - Head of the Executive Committee of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha in the province read the Buddha's Birthday Speech of the 2567th Buddhist calendar by the Most Venerable Chairman of the Executive Council.
At the ceremony, Vice Chairman of the Provincial Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee Le Thai Binh read the letter of the Chairman of the Provincial Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee congratulating the Buddha's birthday 2567.
Through this letter, I respectfully wish all Venerable Sangha, monks and nuns and Buddhists in the province a peaceful and fulfilling celebration of Buddha's Birthday and the 2023 rainy season retreat in the great unity of the entire nation.
Speaking at the ceremony, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Le Tri Thanh emphasized that Buddha's Birthday is a holiday of special significance to Buddhists and those who have a heart towards Buddha.
The festival has been recognized by the United Nations as a world cultural and religious festival to honor the moral, cultural values, ideology of peace, solidarity, friendship and the spirit of compassion of Buddha.
On the occasion of the 2567th Buddha's Birthday, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Le Tri Thanh called on the Venerable Sangha, monks and nuns and Buddhist followers of the province to continue promoting the spirit of compassion, wisdom, solidarity, mutual love and strive to well implement the policies and guidelines of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha "Nation - Dharma - Socialism"; further promote activities, together with the entire population, actively contribute to the cause of innovation, building the homeland and country to become more civilized and prosperous.
