Quang Nam Buddhism "good religion, good life"

The Executive Committee of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha (VBS) in Quang Nam province is a member organization of the Vietnam Fatherland Front in Quang Nam province. After nearly 27 years of construction and development, to date, the VBS has established 15 district-level VBS Executive Committees.

Buddhist activities are carried out according to the motto "good religion, good life", contributing to preserving and promoting the nation's fine customs, ethics and traditional culture.

Enhance role and reputation

At the corner of the street near Ngo Quyen Primary School (Phu Trung block, An Phu ward, Tam Ky city), in the past, some people had the habit of littering illegally, causing unsightliness and environmental pollution. Thanks to the cooperation from many sides, including Buddhist dignitaries and followers in the area, up to now, this environmental "black spot" has gradually been eliminated.

Mr. Le Thai Binh - Vice Chairman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Quang Nam province said that in the process of building and developing the homeland, religious organizations in general and Buddhism in particular have accompanied the Vietnam Fatherland Front of the province, together cultivating the great solidarity bloc of the people in the province to become stronger and stronger.

This is clearly demonstrated through the process of responding to and implementing patriotic emulation campaigns and movements initiated by the Fatherland Front at all levels.

The solidarity and close bond between religious and non-religious people; between religious organizations and people of all walks of life have contributed to the successful implementation of the Party's guidelines and policies in each locality and each residential area...

Quang Huong Pagoda is a Buddhist facility located on Phu Trung block, presided over by Venerable Thich Tinh Tri. In June 2024, representatives of Quang Huong Pagoda, along with 60 Buddhist followers and residents of Phu Trung block, attended the launching ceremony of the model "Religion participates in protecting a green, clean, and beautiful environment" launched by the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of An Phu ward.

After the launch, dignitaries, followers and people mobilized to clean up and remove environmental “black spots” on some roads. On the full moon and first day of the lunar month, many followers came to the pagoda to pay homage. Venerable Thich Tinh Tri reminded everyone to respond to the model launched by the Ward Front, thereby raising awareness of environmental protection; classifying and disposing of garbage in the right place...

Venerable Thich Tinh Tri believes that accompanying local movements and activities is the responsibility of Buddhist dignitaries and followers. This is in Buddhist teachings.

"With their role and prestige with the followers, the participation and companionship of dignitaries will contribute to making local policies more effective," said Venerable Thich Tinh Tri.

Mr. Le Minh Hai - Chairman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of An Phu Ward said that the model "Religion participates in protecting the green, clean and beautiful environment" was launched by the Ward Front from August 1, 2023; up to now, both Buddhist establishments in the ward have responded to the model.

According to Mr. Hai, before the model was launched, people and Buddhists did not have the habit of sorting waste at the source. Through guidance and propaganda, now along the roads with religious facilities, there are no more garbage jams and no environmental black spots.

“Buddhists and Buddhist dignitaries also actively participate in humanitarian and charitable activities to help poor households and households in difficult circumstances. Thereby contributing to reducing the poverty rate to less than 1%, exceeding the target set by the Resolution of the Ward Party Congress…” - Mr. Hai shared.

Join hands to care for social security

Ms. Nguyen Thi Sa My (Duc Tinh village, Dai Hong commune, Dai Loc district) is in a very difficult situation; her husband passed away, leaving her to raise 4 children alone. Her family is among the temporary and dilapidated houses to be demolished in the 2023-2025 period of Dai Loc district.

Early last August, the Executive Committee of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha in Dai Loc district, in coordination with the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of the district, visited and presented 60 million VND to support the construction of a solidarity house for Ms. Nguyen Thi Sa My. This is one of many households that received financial support from Buddhism to build and repair houses in Quang Nam province.

According to the Executive Committee of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha in Quang Nam province, in response to the movement of "eliminating temporary and dilapidated houses" of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front and the Appeal Letter of the Secretary of the Quang Nam Provincial Party Committee, the Executive Committee of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha in the province has proactively deployed the policy to all levels of the church.

At the same time, call for and coordinate with the Central Social Charity Board of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha to visit and present 33 houses (60 million VND/house) with nearly 2 billion VND and 500 gifts (worth 500 million VND) to the people of Quang Nam.

According to the report, from 2019 to present, the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha in the province has mobilized resources to support the construction and repair of nearly 100 solidarity houses and charity houses with a total amount of more than 5 billion VND.

In addition, with the spirit of "A piece when hungry is worth a package when full", the Venerable Executive Committee, monks, nuns, laypeople, and Buddhists collected and mobilized thousands of gifts, worth nearly 1.5 billion VND, to promptly share and provide relief to people affected by natural disasters.

Proactively connect and create favorable conditions for volunteer groups led by the Executive Committee of the Buddhist Sangha of provinces and cities and Buddhist followers to visit and give gifts to people in disaster areas, support the construction of bridges, houses, etc. with a total value of 3 billion VND.

During the COVID-19 pandemic, the church has guided monks, nuns and Buddhists to practice religion in an appropriate manner, strictly comply with regulations on disease prevention and control; called for support of resources for disease prevention and control with a total amount of 2 billion VND...

Most Venerable Thich Phuoc Minh - Head of the Executive Committee of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha in Quang Nam province affirmed that the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha in Quang Nam province always accompanies the nation, the Front and the people to build the province to develop; strives to promote the spirit of solidarity, join hands to build the homeland.

More than 11,400 test papers on the Resolution of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Congress of Tam Ky City

After nearly half a month of launching, the Organizing Committee of the Online Contest to learn about the Resolution of the 9th Congress of the Vietnam Fatherland Front of Tam Ky City (term 2024 - 2029) received 11,427 entries.
