The preliminary, final, and awards ceremonies for the competition will take place around November and December 2024. The organizers will select the 6 best songs to award prizes.
The competition is open to professional and amateur musicians and artists who are Vietnamese citizens, regardless of age or profession. Entries should reflect positive traditional cultural values; celebrate solidarity, achievements, and innovations in the lives of ethnic minorities and mountainous regions. The organizers encourage creative works based on the folk music of ethnic minorities.

Composer Minh Cừ (Lai Châu Provincial Center for Culture and Arts) - who won the A prize in the music category of the Award for Composing and Promoting Literary, Artistic, and Journalistic Works on the theme "Studying and Following the Ideology, Morality, and Style of Ho Chi Minh" for the period 2021-2023 with the song "The Hmong People Remember Uncle Ho" - commented: "This competition is very meaningful because it encourages the movement of artistic creation about ethnic minorities and mountainous areas; thereby contributing to introducing good and practical songs that help improve the spiritual life of ethnic minorities and people in mountainous areas."
