The preliminary, final and awarding rounds of the contest will take place around November and December 2024. The organizing committee will select the 6 best songs to award prizes.
Contestants include: professional and amateur musicians and artists, Vietnamese citizens, with no age or occupation restrictions. The content of the entries reflects good traditional cultural values; praises solidarity, achievements and innovations in the lives of ethnic minorities and mountainous areas. The Organizing Committee encourages creative works based on the materials and melodies of ethnic minority folk songs.

Musician Minh Cu (Lai Chau Provincial Center for Culture and Arts) - winner of the A prize in the Music Award for Composing and Promoting Literary, Artistic and Journalistic Works on the Theme of "Studying and Following Ho Chi Minh's Thought, Morality and Style" for the period 2021 - 2023 with the song "The Mong People Miss Uncle Ho" - commented: "This contest is very meaningful because it encourages the movement of artistic composition about ethnic minorities and mountainous areas; thereby contributing to introducing good and practical songs to help improve the spiritual life of ethnic minorities and mountainous areas".
