On the morning of April 2, at Kim Dong Theater, the City Cultural Center (Hanoi Department of Culture and Sports) in collaboration with the Hanoi Art Photography Association solemnly organized the Conference to launch the Hanoi Open Art Photography Contest and Composing the song "Hanoi Sound".
Attending the event were representatives of the Hanoi Department of Culture and Sports, the City Cultural Center, leaders of the Hanoi Art Photography Association and representatives of photography clubs under the Association.
The photo contest with the theme "Hanoi Capital - New position - New stature" aims to find photographic works of artistic value to promote to the people of the Capital and the whole country about the position, especially important role, responsibility for developing the city, practically celebrating the 70th anniversary of the Liberation Day of the Capital (October 10, 1954 - October 10, 2024).
This is also an opportunity to encourage and motivate the mass movement to preserve, inherit and promote the Vietnamese cultural identity in general and the beauty of the capital in particular in the period of integration and development.
Contestants include professional and non-professional photographers, Vietnamese citizens, Vietnamese people residing abroad, and foreigners studying, working and living in Vietnam.
The content of the entries must have a clear message, a new and unique perspective on the Capital Hanoi - the City of "Cultured - Civilized - Modern", expressing the love of Vietnamese people and international friends for Hanoi based on messages such as: Thang Long - Hanoi "Thousand years of civilization"; Hanoi - Heroic Capital; Hanoi - City for peace; Hanoi - Creative City; Hanoi - Integration and development; Hanoi people are gallant - elegant - affectionate - civilized; Hanoi Festival; Hanoi - green, clean and beautiful... The works reflect the economic, cultural, social, integration and development achievements of the Capital.
Contest entries are presented in the form of: single photo and photo series (specifically specified in the Contest Regulations).
- Single photo category: Each author can submit from 1 to 10 photos.
- Works submitted for the photo series category: Each photo series is considered a work, consisting of 5 to 8 photos numbered in the series. Authors can enter a maximum of 2 photo series.
- Contest entries (single photo, photo series) must include a caption about the theme and a description of the work's content (no more than 200 words).
According to the regulations of the Contest, the entries must have creative composition, beautiful lighting, highly aesthetic images; meet the technical and language requirements of photography. For entries that are photo series, there must be coherence and consistency between the works.
The works have artistic value and meaningful content, comply with the Party's guidelines and policies, the State's laws and policies, ensure cultural standards, are suitable for the Vietnamese people's customs and traditions, have wide influence, contribute to raising awareness and orientation in preserving the traditions and good cultural identity of the nation in general and Hanoi in particular, do not violate copyright, and comply with the regulations of the contest.
The images must be honest and objective, closely linked, and represent a specific story that is consistent with the theme, content, and requirements of the Contest.
Time to receive entries: From the date of announcement to the end of August 1.
Organizing the selection and evaluation of works: expected to be completed by September 10.
Announcement of awards and exhibition of winning works: expected to be held on September 20.
The Organizing Committee receives entries via photo receiving software provided by the Organizing Committee.
Based on the evaluation results of the Jury, the Organizing Committee will award prizes with cash prizes to quality works for single and series of photos with the following prize structure: First, Second, Third, Encouragement Prizes, Encouragement Prizes for grassroots movements and Encouragement Prizes for Special Topics.
At the Conference, the Hanoi Department of Culture and Sports also announced the rules of the "Hanoi Sound" Song Composition Contest.
Time to receive works: From the date of launching the contest to July 30.
The competition's closing and award ceremony will be held in September-October 2024, on the occasion of the 70th anniversary of the Capital Liberation Day.
