Launching the program 'Helping children go to school' for disabled children in Vietnam

The goal of this program is to award 1,200 scholarships to disadvantaged disabled students in 12 provinces and cities (2 more provinces than in 2024), including: Cao Bang, Ha Giang, Lao Cai, Lai Chau, Dien Bien, Quang Ninh, Kon Tum, Gia Lai, Dak Lak, Dak Nong, Tuyen Quang and Tra Vinh.

Each scholarship includes 4,000,000 VND in cash and essential gifts (milk, candy, school supplies) to cover the children's study and living expenses throughout the school year.

In 2024, the program successfully raised more than VND 2.19 billion from the community with 30,000 messages of support via the National Humanitarian Portal 1400 and more than 15,000 direct transfers to the Fund's account.

Accordingly, 1,002 scholarships were awarded to disabled students in mountainous border provinces.

During the implementation process, the Fund for Children with Disabilities in Vietnam also closely coordinated with the People's Committees of 10 provinces, the Department of Education and Training, authorities at all levels (districts, communes, wards) and schools to develop review criteria and make a list of students receiving scholarships.

The screening process is carefully conducted to ensure that each scholarship goes to the right recipients, who are disabled children with especially difficult circumstances but still maintain their learning ability and desire to continue going to school.

Ms. Duong Thi Bich Diep, Chairwoman of the Board of Directors of the Fund for Children with Disabilities in Vietnam, emphasized that we and the Vietnamese community, both domestically and internationally, are always ready to accompany the children, ready to give them a foothold so that they can confidently move forward. That is also the reason for the establishment of the School Support Program.

To join hands in raising funds for this year's program, interested individuals and organizations can support by transferring money directly to the account of the Fund for Disabled Children of Vietnam: Account number: 0312; Account name: Fund for Disabled Children of Vietnam; Military Commercial Joint Stock Bank (MB Bank).

To spread the message of support to disabled students, the Fund also coordinated with the Youth Union of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the online sports platform vRace to organize the online race "Support to school".

The race is a bridge between the community and children in need. The race encourages everyone to participate at any location, any time with free registration on the vRace platform. Results are recorded via the application or tracking devices (Strava, Garmin) with individual and team rankings updated continuously. The race takes place from March 26 to July 26, 2025 with online running and achievements recorded via the application.
