This morning, September 29, 2024, the Ministry of Industry and Trade co-ordinated with the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development to organize the first Vietnamese Fruit Festival in Beijing, China. The festival was organized in cooperation with the Vietnamese Embassy in China, the Vietnam Fruit and Vegetable Association and Chinese partners.
Attending and delivering the opening speech at the festival were Minister of Industry and Trade Nguyen Hong Dien and the delegation of the Ministry of Industry and Trade. On the side of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, there was the participation of Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development Tran Thanh Nam and representatives of relevant units and organizations...
The Vietnam Fruit Festival is held at the Tan Phat Dia Agricultural Products Distribution Center, Phong Dai District, Beijing City. This is the largest fruit wholesale market in Beijing, distributing all kinds of fruits from around the world officially imported into China. The center not only serves the needs of more than 22 million people in the capital Beijing but also neighboring localities such as Hubei, Tianjin, etc.

On behalf of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development and Vietnamese agricultural export enterprises, I would like to send my greetings and sincere thanks to Chinese agencies, businesses and consumers of the two countries who attended the "Vietnam Fruit Festival" held in Beijing, China.
To celebrate the successful results of the state visit to China by General Secretary and President of Vietnam To Lam and the high-level meeting with General Secretary and President of China Xi Jinping; on the occasion of the 13th Meeting of the Vietnam-China Economic and Trade Cooperation Committee, the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development of Vietnam in coordination with the Ministry of Industry and Trade, the Embassy of Vietnam in China and the Vietnam Fruit and Vegetable Association organized the first Vietnam Fruit Festival in Beijing, China.
This is the first time the fruit festival has been held and is a valuable opportunity for businesses and consumers of both countries to enjoy delicious, pure Vietnamese fruits. This event is very important, marking the good results of cooperation in the field of agriculture and agricultural trade between the two countries. This is also a valuable opportunity for businesses of both sides to connect, trade, and promote cooperation in developing the fruit industry of the two countries.
Vietnam and China are two neighboring countries with a good friendship and long-standing tradition; geographical proximity, soil and climate; and similarities in culinary culture are the premise to promote trade between the two countries in general and the exchange of fruit specialties in particular. Bringing Vietnamese fruits to the Chinese market is a way for consumers to enjoy the wonderful flavors of many types of fruit in Vietnam.
In recent years, with the effective support and assistance of Chinese agencies, along with the participation of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development and the Ministry of Industry and Trade of Vietnam in the planning of growing areas, transparency of the working process, strict management of the granting and management of growing area codes and granting import-export eligibility licenses... Up to now, there have been 12 types of Vietnamese fruits exported to the Chinese market with an estimated turnover of about 4.5 billion USD.
Vietnam is also a tropical country, with a territory spanning 15 latitudes, which is an ideal condition for growing many types of fruit with distinctive flavors, including: Dragon fruit (annual output of 1.3 million tons), mango (1.1 million tons), durian (1.2 million tons), banana (2.5 million tons), grapefruit (1.1 million tons) ... These are products grown in areas with growing area codes, meeting national and international quality standards, serving export. Currently, Vietnam has 2,350 growing areas that have been granted export codes to China. Vietnamese fruits are not only a wonderful gift from nature, but also an ambassador of Vietnamese agricultural products, imbued with Vietnamese culture.
To promote agricultural trade between the two countries in the coming time, through this festival, we hope to:
Relevant agencies of the two countries continue to strengthen coordination in removing barriers and opening up the agricultural market, especially the agencies of the General Administration of Customs of China to expand agricultural, forestry and fishery products, especially Vietnamese specialty fruits, to be introduced and consumed in the Chinese market.
Associations, businesses and investors of the two countries need to strengthen cooperation and linkage to expand markets, develop sustainable agricultural product chains for export, and expand investment in export-serving areas such as: trade promotion, logistics, wholesale markets, cold storage chains, preservation, processing and breeding.
The trade and agricultural agencies of the two countries will strengthen coordination with localities, associations, and businesses to continue organizing agricultural product trade festivals in many other potential localities and regions of China in the coming time.
Finally, I would like to express my sincere thanks to the leadership and coordination of the leaders of Chinese and Vietnamese agencies for creating favorable conditions for the successful organization of this festival. Thank you to Chinese consumers for always trusting, favoring and using Vietnamese fruit products. The Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development and the Ministry of Industry and Trade of Vietnam will continue to accompany associations and enterprises to bring Vietnamese agricultural specialties and fruits to consumers in the Chinese market with the highest quality and standards.
