Quoting a representative of the Russian Embassy in France, the news agency said that the diplomatic agency has not received any complaints from Mr. Durov's team, but they are taking "immediate" steps.
Meanwhile, according to TF1 TV , Paris could charge Mr Durov with crimes related to terrorism, money laundering, drug trafficking and child pornography.
Previously, TF1 TV and BFM TV cited anonymous sources saying that Mr. Pavel Durov was arrested at Bourget airport in the suburbs of Paris on the evening of August 24 (local time).
According to TF1 TV , Mr. Durov was arrested while traveling by private plane, at around 8:00 p.m. on August 24 (1:00 a.m. on August 25, Vietnam time), on his way from Azerbaijan. Mr. Durov's arrest was to serve a preliminary police investigation.
Both media outlets said the investigation focused on a lack of moderators on Telegram, which police said allowed criminal activity to run unchecked on the messaging app.
Telegram, based in Dubai, was founded by Mr. Durov, a Russian native who left Russia in 2014 after refusing to comply with demands to shut down opposition communities on the social media platform VK, which he had sold.
