DIFF season starts impressively

Unique attraction

On the evening of June 2, the opening night of the Da Nang International Fireworks Festival - DIFF 2023, sponsored and co-organized by Sun Group, took place impressively. After 3 years of waiting, DIFF audiences were able to see the sky and the Han River merge as one, when the "fireworks" performance between the Da Nang - Vietnam fireworks team and the JoHo Pyro - Finland team took place.

While the host team Vietnam told the story of peace and friendship through the theme "Da Nang - the sound of peace", Finland expressed its strong emotions and love for life in the theme "Starting the heart".

Rarely anywhere do people love and consider fireworks as a premium specialty like in Da Nang. Therefore, the return of DIFF is highly anticipated by tourists, and city leaders expect it to be a strong "boost" for Da Nang tourism.

After more than 11 editions, the Da Nang International Fireworks Festival (DIFF) has brought the city a brand that creates its own attraction. 2017 was a memorable milestone when DIFF was socialized, the City People's Committee assigned Sun Group to organize with the expectation of creating a strong impression for Da Nang in 2017 and in the future affirming DIFF as a "must-see festival" for friends from all over the world. DIFF has done a great job of that mission for many years before the pandemic hit. DIFF 2023 with the theme "A World Without Distance" is an affirmation of the effort to promote the strong recovery of world tourism in general and Vietnam, Da Nang in particular after the pandemic.

Tourists flock to places to watch fireworks in Da Nang

Attractive festivals, events or more broadly, unique tourism products invested in and organized systematically by the private sector are gradually affirming their important role in bringing tourists back to destinations and promoting tourism growth.

In fact, localities that have successfully created attractive festivals and events with their own unique identities have achieved impressive results in terms of the number of tourists. After the pandemic and the impact of the economic recession, this is really the right way to do it and needs to be spread to localities that consider tourism as a key economic sector.

Dr. Nuno F. Ribeiro, Senior Vice President of Tourism and Hospitality Management, RMIT University Vietnam, in a tourism conference organized by Dau Tu Newspaper in March 2023, commented: "Most tourists are not just looking for a trip but an experience. The richer and more quality the experience is, the more excited tourists will be, wanting to come back to explore more and not hesitate to "open their wallets".

For Da Nang, to become an attractive destination, this summer, the city of the Han River not only has DIFF but also countless new experiences to invite visitors to enjoy. But the return of DIFF is truly a strong mark to help affirm the leading tourism brand in the country.

Striving for the "pride" of the city

Mr. Nguyen Van Binh, Chairman of Sun Group Central Region, said that so far, more than 80% of the tickets for the 5 fireworks nights have been sold. The opening night tickets were sold out shortly after the Organizing Committee announced information about the festival. This shows the great appeal of DIFF after 3 years of suspension due to the pandemic.

In addition, Sun Group continues to accompany the People's Committee of Da Nang City to organize a series of events on the sidelines of DIFF, to affirm Da Nang as "Asia's leading event - festival destination" that visitors should not miss this summer.

The most attractive festivals include the Lantern Festival, the B'estival Food and Beer Festival, the Korean Cultural Festival, the French Cultural Festival... at Sun World Ba Na Hills. Along with that, many interesting experiences, both modern and traditional, are still being held throughout the summer in Da Nang, on all roads and destinations.

Asia Park alone has organized many music nights since the beginning of summer, with the presence of famous DJs from the land of Kim Chi, launching traditional water puppet shows, and experiencing flying with hot air balloons, bringing visitors endless new feelings.

In fact, thanks to the return of DIFF, a series of service businesses, restaurants, hotels and yachts on both sides of the Han River have also enjoyed a boom in customers, proactively launching combo packages of "dinner party, fireworks viewing"...

The explosive opening night with a large influx of visitors is a positive signal for DIFF and Da Nang tourism. Ms. Ngo Thi Kim Yen, Vice Chairwoman of Da Nang People's Committee, admitted that the return of the fireworks festival is a great effort and endeavor of the city. At the same time, the companionship of Sun Group also contributed significantly to helping Da Nang be able to implement DIFF 2023.

According to Ms. Yen, this fireworks festival is expected to be a boost to help Da Nang tourism return to the pre-Covid-19 period. With the support of businesses, Da Nang City organizes 28 accompanying events during the more than 1 month of the fireworks festival and expects to welcome more than 1.5 million visitors.
