Finland's Equality Commissioner Kristina Stenman said the Helsinki government's decision to close almost all border crossings with Russia would put access to asylum procedures at risk.
The Finnish government will deploy additional forces from the European Union Border and Coast Guard Agency (Frontex) to the border with Russia. They will carry out controls there for more than two months.
Specifically, Frontex will send 50 border guards and other personnel, as well as equipment such as patrol vehicles, to strengthen control of Finland's borders.
Earlier, Chairman of the State Duma (Lower House) of Russia Vyacheslav Volodin emphasized that due to the closure of border crossings with this country, Finland will lose about 3 billion Euros. Helsinki is also facing many economic problems.
