Striving for at least 4 social housing projects to start construction by 2025

DTO - On the afternoon of April 8, at the meeting room of the Provincial Party Standing Committee, comrade Le Quoc Phong - Member of the Party Central Committee, Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Head of the Steering Committee (SC) for social housing development in the province (abbreviated as the Provincial SC) chaired the meeting of the Provincial SC.

At the meeting, representatives of the Department of Construction reported on the implementation of social housing development in the area. Currently, the province has 4 social housing projects, 3 of which have been completed with 687 houses, including: Song Hai Long social housing (Sa Dec city), Nguyen Hung social housing (Hong Ngu city) and Vinh Hoan housing for workers (Cao Lanh city); 1 project is under construction with a scale of 504 apartments for low-income people (social housing in My Phu ward, Cao Lanh city).

According to the Housing Development Program of Dong Thap province in the period of 2021 - 2030, the social housing demand of the subjects receiving social housing support in the province is forecasted to be about 43,590 households and individuals. The province aims to have at least 4 social housing projects started in 2025, specifically: Social housing combined with the construction of the Trade Union Institutional Area (Sa Dec City); Bon Mua Urban Area project (Sa Dec City); Student housing project in Ward 6 (Cao Lanh City) and social housing in My Phu Ward (Cao Lanh City). The Department of Construction has reviewed the proposed process and procedures for investment in social housing development; coordinated with relevant units to review and make a list of public land funds in the province and is expected to submit it to the Provincial People's Committee on April 15, 2025, to introduce investors for social housing projects.

Regarding the target of building social housing according to the Prime Minister's Project "Investing in building at least 1 million social housing apartments for low-income people and industrial park workers in the period of 2021 - 2030", the province is assigned to build 6,148 houses (3,075 houses for workers, 3,073 houses for low-income people) in the period of 2021 - 2030. The Provincial People's Committee issued an implementation plan and set a target of investing and calling for investment in about 18 projects and 7,246 houses by 2030 (3,508 houses for workers, 3,738 houses for low-income people).

In addition, members of the Provincial Steering Committee proposed a number of solutions such as: promoting the call for investors, shortening investment processes and procedures; surveying and assessing the social housing needs of workers... to implement the construction of social housing in the province in the coming time.

Comrade Le Quoc Phong - Member of the Party Central Committee, Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Head of the Steering Committee for social housing development in the province delivered a concluding speech at the meeting.

Concluding the meeting, Provincial Party Secretary Le Quoc Phong emphasized that the construction of social housing is an issue of great concern to the Government. The Provincial Party Secretary requested the Provincial People's Committee, provincial departments and branches to continue studying solutions to ensure the target of social housing construction in the province. At the same time, he requested the Provincial People's Committee to assign functional departments and branches to develop simple and concise processes and procedures for enterprises investing in social housing; urgently review the processes and procedures for social housing investment, compile statistics on preferential policies for enterprises when investing in social housing construction in the province and report to the Provincial Steering Committee. In addition, the Provincial People's Committee has a plan to completely resolve unfinished social housing projects; the Department of Construction studies and supports enterprises intending to invest in social housing construction and studies and works with investors on social housing prices; the Provincial Labor Federation and the Department of Home Affairs continue to survey and grasp the social housing needs of workers in the province.
