By 2025, Vietnam strives to have at least 3 cooperatives in the top 300 cooperatives in the world.

On the afternoon of April 4, the Vietnam Cooperative Alliance held a press meeting to inform about Cooperative Day (April 11), Action Month for Cooperatives (Cooperatives), and International Year of Cooperatives 2025.

At the meeting, Mr. Dinh Hong Thai, Vice President of the Vietnam Cooperative Alliance, said that in the Action Month for Cooperatives in 2025, there will be the following activities: The Vietnam Cooperative Alliance will organize the "National Cooperative Forum 2025", with the theme "Transforming green production for sustainable development", to exchange and share experiences, and seek solutions for developing collective economy and cooperatives associated with developing green economy, circular economy, and knowledge economy.

The forum will focus on exchanging, discussing and sharing experiences between the Vietnam Cooperative Alliance system, managers, experts, scientists , enterprises, cooperatives, cooperative unions, and cooperative groups to properly assess the role of cooperatives in the green and sustainable production chain; identify difficulties, obstacles, and solutions to promote the collective economic model, cooperatives, support the consumption of cooperative products, effectively exploit potentials and advantages, and contribute to socio-economic development...

Next is the Ceremony to honor typical cooperatives and award the Cooperative Star Award “Coop Star Awards 2025” to 100 typical cooperatives (held on the evening of April 11, in Hanoi ). The ceremony aims to recognize and honor cooperatives and cooperative unions with outstanding achievements in production and business development activities, actively contributing to the socio-economic development of the country.

Regarding the Workshop to support typical cooperatives to improve their capacity to access loans and connect trade, held on April 12 in Hanoi. The workshop aims to comprehensively assess the current situation of difficulties, obstacles and shortcomings in accessing credit capital of the collective economic sector and cooperatives, thereby identifying the causes and proposing solutions to remove them to unblock credit capital sources for the collective economic sector nationwide in the coming time; exchange and discuss on innovation, improving the quality and efficiency of cooperatives' operations, enhancing the role of representative organizations, the core of which is the Vietnam Cooperative Alliance at all levels in developing the collective economy and cooperatives; further promoting the effectiveness of Cooperative Development Support Funds, promoting the rapid and sustainable development of the collective economic sector and cooperatives...

The International Year of Cooperatives 2025, themed “Cooperatives Building a Better World”, aims to celebrate the contributions of cooperatives to socio-economic development, especially their impact on poverty reduction, job creation and social integration. The opening ceremony of the International Year of Cooperatives 2025, themed “Cooperatives Building a Better World”, was held in New Delhi (India) on the occasion of the International Cooperative Alliance (ICA) General Assembly, taking place from November 25 to 30, 2024, with the participation of more than 3,000 delegates who are leaders and members of national cooperative organizations around the world. The International Year of Cooperatives 2025 will take place over a year, to inspire cooperatives around the world, promote the great contributions of the cooperative sector to society, honor achievements and further actions to develop the cooperative sector and improve people's lives.

President of the Vietnam Cooperative Alliance Cao Xuan Thu Van provided more information on the development of the collective economy, cooperatives and the activities of the Vietnam Cooperative Alliance system in 2024. The Vietnam Cooperative Alliance actively and proactively advised on the development of documents guiding the implementation of the Law on Cooperatives in 2023 and perfecting the policy mechanism for the development of the collective economy and cooperatives; actively coordinated and worked with ministries and branches to promote the development of the collective economy and cooperatives; perfected the operating mechanism and organizational structure of the Vietnam Cooperative Alliance system...

Ms. Cao Xuan Thu Van emphasized that the international community is very interested in the two awards of the Vietnam Cooperative Alliance. These are the Mai An Tiem Award and the Coop Star Awards. Through these awards, the image and brand of cooperatives are created in the process of development and international integration, contributing to promoting the rapid and sustainable development of cooperatives.

Along with being a bridge between the Party, the State and the collective economic sector, contributing to the country's socio-economic development, the Cooperative Alliance will make efforts through international relations, bringing Vietnamese cooperatives to the international market, being a bridge between Vietnamese cooperatives and the international market, in order to promote trade and investment, linking cooperatives to regional and global value chains, exploiting resources to support the development of the collective economy and cooperatives; striving that by 2025, Vietnam will have at least 3 cooperatives in the Top 300 leading cooperatives in the world. ...
