Up to now, the whole district has about 312 hectares of rice production, of which more than 210 hectares are produced in an organic direction with Song Gianh Corporation Joint Stock Company and Quang Tri Trading Corporation Joint Stock Company.
Each hectare of organic rice production brings in 2-3 million VND higher income than normal rice production. In particular, the production of organic rice using a closed, concentrated process from sowing to harvesting fresh rice in the field will reduce post-harvest losses by 5% - 7%.
According to the plan, in 2024, Vinh Linh district will expand the area of joint rice production to about 400 hectares, of which 250 hectares will be joint organic rice production.
To achieve the above goal, the district is focusing on reviewing the planning of organic rice production areas in the district's key rice areas including Vinh Long, Vinh Thuy, and Vinh Lam communes. Investing in field improvement and land consolidation, irrigation canal systems for linked rice production areas. Completing the Vinh Linh rice processing and processing system with a total investment of nearly 3 billion VND.
Increase the transfer and application of high-value commercial varieties, build and develop a synchronous intensive farming program, and apply integrated pest management (IPM) on rice. At the same time, increase the invitation for businesses to join in organizing production, processing, and consumption of rice in the district.
