In particular, for the North-South High-Speed Railway Project, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh directed the Ministry of Construction to submit to the Government additional mechanisms on bidding for the project in April 2025; the Government will submit to the National Assembly Standing Committee and the National Assembly in May 2025.
The Ministry of Construction focuses on completing procedures to strive to start the project by the end of 2026. The Ministry of Construction reviews and studies to submit to competent authorities policies and mechanisms to speed up project implementation.
The Ministry of Justice shall promptly provide comments for the Ministry of Construction to issue a decree on overall design in accordance with the simplified procedures and order as directed by Deputy Prime Minister Tran Hong Ha in Official Dispatch No. 2572/VPCP-CN dated March 28, 2025. At the same time, ministries and branches shall promptly provide comments after the Ministry of Construction requests comments on the draft Decree for promulgation in April 2025.
According to the pre-feasibility study report of the consulting consortium TEDI - TRICC - TEDI SOUTH, the North-South High-Speed Railway Project has a length of about 1,541km with 23 passenger stations and 5 freight stations. The project route will start from Ngoc Hoi station, Hanoi city and the final station of the project is Thu Thiem station, Thu Duc city (Ho Chi Minh City).
For the section passing through the province, the high-speed railway on the North-South axis has a basic route that shares the same corridor to the East of the Phan Thiet - Dau Giay expressway. When reaching Cam My district, the route turns left to enter the central axis of Long Thanh International Airport (airport), and arranges an additional right turn along Ring Road 4 - Ho Chi Minh City to the North to connect with Trang Bom cargo station to serve cargo transit. The route then goes south, along the corridor of the Ho Chi Minh City - Long Thanh - Dau Giay expressway to Thu Thiem station.
The only passenger station of the high-speed railway on the North-South axis in the province will be located in the central area of Long Thanh Airport.
According to the consultant, regarding the route plan, the high-speed railway on the North-South axis will run through the main axis of Long Thanh Airport. In particular, the approximately 40m long section in front of the T1 and T2 terminals of Long Thanh Airport will be designed with the option of running underground under the main axis of this airport. Regarding the location of the high-speed railway station on the North-South axis, the station will be located right in front of the T1 terminal of Long Thanh Airport.
