Must identify strengths and priorities to accelerate development of Ha Tien City

Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the People's Committee of Kien Giang Province Lam Minh Thanh suggested that Ha Tien City (Kien Giang) must identify key tasks, strengths and priorities to accelerate development, especially in economic growth, job creation and improving living standards and income for people; completing the goal of building Ha Tien City to become a type II urban area in the shortest time.

Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the People's Committee of Kien Giang province Lam Minh Thanh gave a speech at the working session with the People's Committee of Ha Tien city.

On the morning of June 16, a working delegation led by Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee and Chairman of the People's Committee of Kien Giang Province Lam Minh Thanh had a working session with the People's Committee of Ha Tien City on the implementation of socio-economic development tasks in the first 6 months of the year and directions and tasks for the last 6 months of 2023.

Speaking at the meeting, comrade Lam Minh Thanh acknowledged and commended Ha Tien City for achieving results in socio-economic development in the first 6 months of 2023. According to the provincial planning for the period 2021-2023, with a vision to 2050, Ha Tien City is oriented to develop as an "international border gate urban area, coastal tourism; heritage urban area"; one of the 3 driving cities for development of the province.

Comrade Lam Minh Thanh suggested that Ha Tien City strengthen the management of areas, land, construction, security and order; apply technology to improve state management capacity, speed up the implementation of the project to develop applications of population data, identification and electronic authentication to serve national digital transformation in the period of 2022-2025, with a vision to 2030 (Project 06).

Ha Tien City coordinates with relevant agencies to organize the implementation of plans approved by competent authorities; forming high-tech aquaculture areas.

In the first 6 months of 2023, Ha Tien City welcomed over 1.7 million tourists.

Regarding socio-economic development in the last 6 months of 2023, Chairman of Kien Giang Provincial People's Committee Lam Minh Thanh requested Ha Tien City to focus on reviewing the 5-year plan, building specific and detailed scenarios for each year with the determination to achieve and exceed the 2023 plan and the 5-year plan; speed up public investment progress, strive to disburse 100% of the 2023 capital plan.

Ha Tien City promotes tourism development, builds local tourism products; strengthens state management of land, mineral resources, construction order... Focuses on quickly implementing social security policies, ensuring the rights of people, especially ethnic minorities.

Ha Tien City needs to maintain good national defense and security; strictly control the situation on the border; continue to promote administrative reform, build e-government, contribute to improving and enhancing the competitiveness of the province...

Secretary of the City Party Committee, Chairman of the People's Committee of Ha Tien City Nguyen Duc Chin reported on the socio-economic development of Ha Tien City in the first 6 months of 2023.

Reporting on the socio-economic development situation in the first 6 months of 2023, the leader of the People's Committee of Ha Tien City said that Ha Tien City has 16/18 socio-economic development targets reaching over 50% of the annual plan. Total retail sales of goods and service revenue reached over 9,791 billion VND, reaching 56.03% of the annual plan; total import-export turnover reached 20.05 million USD. The city welcomed over 1.7 million visitors, reaching 69.2% of the annual plan.

The industrial and construction production value of Ha Tien City is over 2,046 billion VND, reaching 50.06% of the annual plan. The output of exploitation and aquaculture is 26,564 tons, reaching 54.56% of the annual plan. Estimated budget revenue is over 317.5 billion VND, reaching 52.05% of the annual plan. The rate of people participating in health insurance is 83.42% of the population. The national defense and security situation in Ha Tien City continues to be strengthened and stabilized...

At the meeting, representatives of departments, branches and city leaders focused on discussing solutions to remove difficulties to promote economic development of Ha Tien City in the coming time.
