According to Allkpop, Nam Tae Hyun, a former member of the popular boy band Winner, is currently undergoing drug rehabilitation at a drug rehabilitation center in Incheon. This information was revealed by the male singer himself in a video posted on the YouTube channel Kizzle.
Nam Tae Hyun regrets what he has done.
In it, the male singer said that he is diligently recovering his health at the center and thinking about his future life. In the past two months, his life at this center has changed.
“When I lived alone, I would sleep whenever I wanted. When I woke up, I could eat and drink whenever I wanted. But here, I can’t do that, I have to wake up at 8:00 a.m. and go to bed at 11:00 p.m. Drinking alcohol is also prohibited. Therefore, my mind is clearer,” Nam Tae Hyun shared.
The singer also acknowledged the emotional toll he took on by disregarding social norms and rules. He expressed remorse for his actions and warned others not to be curious about drugs. He himself was curious and could not escape the temptation. That endangered his own life and future.
“As a human being, everyone can be curious. But, it is not worth the experience because it does not make you feel like a superhero. Do not be curious. You can lose everything just because of that curiosity,” the former Winner member warned.
The male singer recommends that everyone should not be curious about using banned substances.
Previously, on KBS's "In depth 60 minutes", Nam Tae Hyun said that his life was severely ruined by drug addiction. The male singer is also burdened with a debt of 500 million KWR (nearly 400,000 USD).
Not only did he have to sell his house, but he also had to sell all of his valuables (except his guitar). His parents also had to sell their house to pay off their son's debt. The male singer plans to do part-time jobs to earn money to pay off his debt and buy a house for his parents after successfully quitting his addiction.
Nam Tae Hyun was born in 1994 and was a member of the famous boy band Winner. He later announced his departure from the group, citing that their musical style did not suit them. The singer formed his own band after leaving YG.
In May 2023, Korean media reported that the Yongsan Police Station in Seoul had requested an arrest warrant for Nam Tae Hyun. The former member of the boy band Winner was suspected of using methamphetamine and was facing charges of violating the Korean Drug Control Act.
Previously, the singer's ex-girlfriend revealed that Nam Tae Hyun used crystal meth. The case of both has been transferred to the prosecution for further investigation although neither of them is in custody.
