At noon on May 26, a large ferry from Cai Vieng Ferry Terminal to Dong Bai Ferry Terminal (Cat Hai District, Hai Phong City) disembarked passengers to return to the mainland. After that, the ferry was preparing to pick up passengers to Cat Ba Island when it suddenly encountered an accident, water flooded the cabin. |

Immediately after discovering the incident, the Dong Bai ferry terminal operating force asked passengers to return to the terminal and urgently implemented rescue and remedial measures. |

Rescue forces organized rescue measures. A passenger on the ferry said that fortunately, when the ferry docked, the vehicles and tourists were able to board the ferry in time, and then the ferry encountered an accident, so there was no loss of life or property. |

A rescue ship was dispatched to the area where the ferry had an accident to deploy remedial measures. |

The incident caused traffic congestion on the road leading to Dong Bai Ferry Terminal to Cat Ba Island for many hours. |

It is known that the Dong Bai - Cai Vieng ferry route (Cat Hai, Hai Phong) has 4 large ferries, 1 medium ferry and 3 small ferries. The ferry with the problem, numbered HP-2735, is one of the 4 largest ferries (about 100 tons) operating at the wharf. |
Dong Bai Ferry Terminal officially replaced Got Ferry Terminal from March 1, 2024 with modern facilities, invested by a large enterprise to improve transport capacity. The operation of the new ferry terminal is expected to overcome congestion at Got Ferry Terminal, especially on holidays and weekends, creating convenience for people and tourists to visit and travel to Cat Ba archipelago.
