Petrovietnam/PV GAS works with AES leaders

The Petrovietnam delegation included Board Member Tran Binh Minh, Deputy General Director Le Xuan Huyen, and representatives of the Group's professional departments. On the side of PetroVietnam Gas Joint Stock Corporation (PV GAS), there were Chairman of the Board of Directors Nguyen Thanh Binh and Deputy General Director Huynh Quang Hai.

Welcoming the delegation were Mr. Juan Ignacio Rubiolo - Senior Vice President of AES Energy Corporation; Mr. Paul Freedman - Vice President and Chief Legal Officer of the Corporation; Ms. Gaelle Bukhart - Director of International Relations and other senior leaders of the Corporation.

At the meeting, the two sides shared information on current investment cooperation in Vietnam, specifically on the implementation status of the Son My LNG Port Warehouse project chain and the Son My 2 Gas Power Plant project invested by AES. In which, the Son My 2 Power Plant project has submitted a Feasibility Study Report to the Ministry of Industry and Trade for appraisal and is being supplemented according to comments from the Ministry of Industry and Trade.

Petrovietnam and AES leaders discuss cooperation between the two sides

Regarding the Son My LNG Terminal project, in July 2023, the People's Committee of Binh Thuan province issued a decision approving the investment policy and approving the project investor, Son My LNG Terminal Company. In the second quarter of 2024, the project investor (Son My LNG Terminal Company Limited) submitted the project's Feasibility Study Report to the Ministry of Industry and Trade for appraisal and will proceed to approve the project's Feasibility Study Report to implement the next steps.

On this occasion, Mr. Juan Ignacio Rubiolo - Senior Vice President of AES Corporation shared about the Corporation's investment orientation in the fields of clean energy and renewable energy globally. In particular, AES will aim to provide energy saving and renewable energy solutions; provide electricity storage systems for renewable energy; and provide hydrogen solutions.

AES Corporation has been present in Vietnam for more than 15 years with many investment projects. AES leaders reaffirmed their commitment to a long-term presence in Vietnam, as well as supporting Vietnam's energy transition and green economy. AES Corporation expressed its desire to cooperate with Vietnamese enterprises such as Petorvietnam, PV GAS and Vietnam Electricity (EVN) to optimize clean energy supply, supply industrial projects in Vietnam, improve and ensure the reliability of energy supply for Vietnam.

Petrovietnam Chairman of the Board of Directors Le Manh Hung presents souvenirs to AES leaders

On behalf of the Group's leaders, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Petrovietnam Le Manh Hung said that the Prime Minister has approved the Group's restructuring plan for the period up to 2025, including promoting the development of clean energy sources, renewable energy, new energy such as offshore wind power, hydrogen, low-carbon fuels in line with the orientation of energy transition and environmental protection. To realize that strategic goal, Petrovietnam is also looking for large, experienced partners in the world such as AES Group to cooperate in researching and investing in new projects. Petrovietnam leaders pledged to support the implementation of the above-mentioned gas-to-power project chain, contributing to ensuring national energy security as well as in line with the approved Power Plan VIII.
