PC Thai Nguyen applies many solutions to improve power supply reliability

In addition, the company continuously researches and promotes the application of science and technology, building a smart grid in accordance with the policies of Vietnam Electricity Group (EVN) and Northern Power Corporation (EVNNPC).

Accordingly, in recent times, Thai Nguyen Power Company has equipped and upgraded the systems for its operational control rooms, including deploying automation systems and connecting the SCADA system with the remote control center, ensuring synchronized and highly effective remote monitoring of operations and troubleshooting.

The company also invests in and installs protective and switching equipment on the power lines, such as line circuit breakers (Reclosers) and load switches (LBS), which are connected to the SCADA/DMS data acquisition, monitoring, and control system located at the Remote Control Center.

Recloser and LBS circuit breakers are installed at sectional and branch locations to maximize the functionality of automatic switching devices for sectionalization in the event of a fault on the power grid; to synchronize phases to close the 22 and 35kV medium voltage loop; and to create a closed loop connection of medium voltage lines.

At the same time, the company applies repair and construction technology using the 22kV grid hotline method without interrupting power, and cleans insulators with high-pressure water.

Simultaneously, PC Thai Nguyen also developed a set of professional criteria in the field of automation for its team of engineers, dispatchers, and operating staff; organized annual training and assessment programs; built a team of engineers and technical staff with sufficient qualifications and capabilities to master new technologies; and ensured that during the development and application of science and technology, the company and its affiliated units have sufficient high-quality, professional human resources in the field of automation.

To date, PC Thai Nguyen has connected SCADA signals to serve remote control of 100% of 110kV substations; Reclose and LBS circuit breakers have also been optimized in equipment control on SP5 at the Center, helping to reduce fault segmentation time, the medium voltage grid has been basically synchronized and closed in a loop, reducing power outage time for loads.

In the near future, PC Thai Nguyen plans to implement hotline repair using an insulated platform method to enable hotline work in locations inaccessible to excavators and hotline electrical repairs on the 35kV power grid; further reducing power outage time for customers, contributing to improving the quality of electricity supply and serving customers even better.
