*South Korea to hold live-fire drills in response to North Korea's ICBM launch: A military source revealed on November 5 that South Korea plans to hold live-fire drills this week involving the Hyunmoo-II surface-to-surface missile and the Cheongung surface-to-air missile defense system, in response to North Korea's recent ballistic missile launches.
The South Korean military plans to conduct the drill as early as November 6 in response to North Korea's launch of multiple short-range ballistic missiles on November 5 and its new Hwasong-19 intercontinental ballistic missile (ICBM) launch on October 31.
South Korea has conducted live-fire drills in response to North Korean provocations in the past. In October 2022, the South Korean military launched a Hyunmoo-IIC ballistic missile after North Korea launched an intermediate-range ballistic missile. (Yonhap)
*North Korea launches missile into the Sea of Japan: According to an announcement from the South Korean Army, in the early morning of November 5, North Korea launched a ballistic missile toward the Sea of Japan.
The launch came just days after Pyongyang said it had successfully tested an intercontinental ballistic missile (ICBM). The move drew strong condemnation from South Korea, the United States and Japan. In response, the three countries conducted joint military exercises. (AFP)
*South Korea: More than 10,000 North Korean soldiers in Russia: On November 5, the South Korean Ministry of Defense announced that more than 10,000 North Korean soldiers have been mobilized to Russia to fight in Ukraine.
Based on intelligence sources, a significant number of these soldiers have been transferred to frontline areas, including Kursk province near the Ukrainian border, said South Korean Defense Ministry spokesman Jeon Ha-kyou.
The information was released just hours after the Pentagon said there were at least 10,000 North Korean soldiers stationed in Kursk, but the US could not confirm whether these soldiers had participated in combat.
Ukraine's intelligence agency also confirmed that about 12,000 North Korean soldiers, including 500 officers and three generals, are present in Russia and are being trained at five military bases. (Yonhap/Reuters)

*German Foreign Minister makes surprise visit to Ukraine: German Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock recently made a surprise visit to Ukraine. During this visit, she was informed about the effectiveness of the Gepard air defense tanks donated by Germany.
Ukrainian soldiers said they used the tank to shoot down three Russian drones outside Kiev last Friday. They also asked Ms Baerbock for more ammunition.
Gepard tanks are considered particularly effective in countering drone attacks. To date, Germany has provided Ukraine with 55 Gepard anti-aircraft tanks with spare parts and 176,000 anti-aircraft ammunition from the German Army and industrial reserves.
As the second largest aid donor to Ukraine after the United States, Germany has pledged 170 million euros ($185 million) in emergency aid to help Ukraine get through the coming winter. (DW)
*Russia accuses Ukraine of trying to drag South Korea into the conflict: Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov on November 5 accused Kiev of doing everything to drag Seoul into the Ukrainian conflict.
Earlier this month, South Korean President Yoon Suk-yeol spoke by phone with his Ukrainian counterpart Volodymyr Zelensky, during which the two sides agreed to promote strategic consultations and “coordinate responses” to North Korea’s alleged troop movement into the conflict zone in Ukraine — information that Pyongyang and Moscow have criticized as baseless.

*Israel increases preparations to deal with the possibility of an Iranian attack: The Jerusalem Post reported on November 5 that the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) has increased its readiness level to prepare for the possibility of Iran responding to Israel's attack on October 26.
At present, the IDF does not know the exact timing of Iran’s retaliatory attacks. The IDF does not rule out the possibility that Iran will retaliate from Syria, Yemen or Iraq, rather than directly from Iran.
On 26 October, the IDF attacked military sites inside Iran in response to the country’s attacks in April and October. Iran said military facilities in the provinces of Ilam, Tehran and Khuzestan were attacked but suffered limited damage. At least four Iranian soldiers and one civilian were killed in the Israeli airstrikes. (Al Jazeera)

The diplomat added that "all options are on the table to reach an agreement, and the parties are waiting for the results of the US presidential election on Tuesday (November 5) to decide on the next response".
Earlier, Al Arabiya channel reported that Hamas leaders were ready to accept Egypt's proposal if Israel agreed to consider it as part of a potential comprehensive deal. (Al Jazeera)

In addition to the B-52 bombers, the US also mobilized F-15E Strike Eagle fighter jets and aerial refueling aircraft to support the squadron's operations.
The bombers were deployed from Minot Air Force Base in North Dakota, the magazine reported. Although the exact location of their deployment has not been disclosed, a transport plane from the base recently landed at Al-Udeid Air Base in Qatar, the largest US base in the region.
Earlier on November 3, the US Central Command (CENTCOM) confirmed the deployment of a group of B-52 aircraft to the Middle East, but did not release details on the specific number. (Sputnik)

In southern Lebanon, IDF fighter jets attacked after detecting a number of Hezbollah fighters operating in a transport infrastructure area.

*AI predicts candidate Harris to win: According to the Semafor website, a study using artificial intelligence (AI) conducted by American entrepreneurs shows that Democratic presidential candidate Kamala Harris is more likely to win the 2024 US presidential election than her Republican opponent Donald Trump.
The study used AI to simulate voters in seven key battleground states. The technology crunched demographic data and created thousands of “voter models,” analyzing news and information that actual voters would have access to, and then developing preferences for the two candidates. The results showed that, although the AI bots showed equal support for both candidates, Ms. Harris would win by a narrow margin. (TASS)
