Trump loses big in battleground Pennsylvania? Harris wins in Democratic stronghold

On the evening of November 5, US Eastern Time (morning of November 6, Vietnam Time), the preliminary vote counting results of the 2024 US presidential election in the Eastern and Central states were gradually revealed.

According to the statistics site 270 to Win, Mr. Donald Trump won 194 electoral votes. Notably, the Republican candidate won in the state with a large number of electors, Texas, with 40 votes.

So far, Mr. Trump has won in the states of Florida (30 votes), South Carolina (9), Alabama (9), Mississippi (6), Tennessee (11), Kentucky (8), Indiana (11), Oklahoma (7), Missouri (10), Arkansas (6), Ohio (17), Louisiana (8), West Virginia (4), Texas (40), Nebraska (3), Kansas (6), South Dakota (3), North Dakota (3), Wiyoming (3).

Meanwhile, also according to 270 to Win, Ms. Kamala Harris won 95 electoral votes, including 28 votes in the Democratic stronghold state of New York. The remaining states are Vermont (3), New Hampshire (3), Massachusetts (11), Rhode Island (4), District of Columbia (3), Delaware (3), Illinois (19), Virginia (13).

According to an update from the AP election map, as of 8:45 a.m. on November 6 (Vietnam time), Ms. Harris is leading Mr. Trump in the battleground state of Pennsylvania (19 electoral votes) by about 69%-31%.

Regarding the popular vote, also according to the French news agency's update, with 10 victories, former President Trump currently received nearly 30 million votes, while current Vice President Harris won more than 26.8 million popular votes.

To become president of the United States, a candidate must receive at least 270 of the nation's 538 electoral votes.
