Reuters quoted Edison Research 's prediction as saying that Mr. Trump was determined to defeat Democratic opponent Harris in Arizona with 52.6% of the vote, 6.2 percentage points more than opponent Kamala Harris, when 87% of the votes in this state had been counted.
In addition to Arizona, Mr. Trump won the battleground states of Michigan, Pennsylvania, Georgia, North Carolina, Wisconsin and Nevada.
The Republican candidate, who has so far surpassed the minimum 270 electoral votes needed to win the White House, has a projected final electoral vote total of 312 compared to Ms. Harris's 226.
In 2020, incumbent President Joe Biden defeated Mr. Trump by winning 6 of 7 battleground states and narrowly losing North Carolina. At that time, Mr. Biden won 306 electoral votes compared to Mr. Trump's 232 votes.
Mr Trump also won 306 votes in his 2016 victory over Democratic rival Hillary Clinton.
In this year's election, after Congress certifies the Electoral College votes on January 6, 2025, Mr. Trump and his new Vice President, US Senator JD Vance, will take office on January 20, 2025.
