US President Donald Trump intends to visit Fort Knox in Kentucky to inspect the country's gold reserves.
According to The Hill, President Trump's move came as billionaire Elon Musk and some Republicans called for an assessment and review of the facility.
"I'm actually going to go. I've heard about Fort Knox all my life. It's where the gold is. We're a little nervous. I want to find out... I'm going to check to see if there's any gold there. Has anybody stolen any gold from Fort Knox?", Mr. Trump told Republican governors at a reception in Washington.
The mystery of America's gold reserves is being targeted by billionaire Elon Musk
Earlier, the world's richest billionaire Elon Musk, with the support of Republican senators Rand Paul and Mike Lee, called for an audit of Fort Knox. A series of unverified posts appeared on social media claiming that gold in the US treasury had disappeared.

Recently, US Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent said that Fort Knox is audited annually and “all the gold is in storage and recorded.” Fort Knox has housed the country’s gold reserves for decades. It also hosts the US Army’s largest annual military training event each summer.
According to AP, Fort Knox is highly secure. Only a few people understand the structure and contents of this facility. However, no one knows all the procedures to open the gold vault. Fort Knox was built in 1936 with 453 m3 of granite, 3,211 m3 of concrete, 750 tons of reinforcing steel and 670 tons of structural steel. This facility is heavily guarded.
According to the U.S. Mint, there are currently 147.3 million ounces of gold stored at Fort Knox, about half of the gold held by the Treasury. At current gold prices, the gold at Fort Knox could be worth as much as $426.3 billion.
