In his first foreign trip since his re-election, Donald Trump will attend the inauguration of Notre Dame Cathedral in Paris after it was closed for repairs due to a fire in 2019.
On December 7 and 8, the 850-year-old Notre Dame Cathedral will welcome visitors and Catholics, including heads of state.
"It is my great honor to announce that I will be traveling to Paris on December 7th to attend the dedication of the magnificent and historic Notre Dame Cathedral, completely restored after the disastrous fire five years ago," Trump wrote on his Truth Social social media account.
French President Emmanuel Macron visited the restoration project of the medieval cathedral on November 29. He commented that the project's creators had achieved the "impossible" by successfully healing the "national wound".
Mr Macron set an ambitious goal of repairing Notre Dame within five years and rebuilding it even more magnificently. French authorities say this goal has been achieved.

President-elect Trump wrote on social media that President Macron has done a miracle in ensuring that Notre Dame Cathedral is restored to its former glory and much more.
About 250 companies and hundreds of experts participated in the restoration project, which cost nearly 700 million euros (more than 750 million euros at today's prices).
The project received donations from 150 countries, with some 846 million euros recorded.
President Macron said in December 2023 that he had invited Pope Francis of the Roman Catholic Church to attend the inauguration ceremony. However, the head of the Holy See responded in September that he would not attend.
Instead, the pope traveled to the French Mediterranean island of Corsica on December 15.
