After the meeting between Donald Trump, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and French President Emmanuel Macron in Paris, the US President-elect posted a long article on the Truth Social platform emphasizing the need for "an immediate ceasefire and negotiations to begin" to resolve the conflict in Ukraine. According to Donald Trump, Ukraine " wants to reach an agreement".
However, Mr Zelensky said the conflict " cannot be ended with just a piece of paper and a few signatures".

" The ceasefire will be resumed at any time. However, to ensure that the Ukrainian people do not suffer any more, we must ensure the credibility of peace and not abandon it," the Ukrainian leader declared.
Mr. Zelensky also said that " in the occupied territories of Ukraine, there are still at least several million people", and ruled out the possibility of Kiev giving up territory to Moscow in exchange for peace.
“ We are discussing precisely peace through strength with all partners as well as all necessary steps and guarantees for the people,” President Zelensky said.
Mr. Donald Trump has repeatedly declared that he could end the conflict in Ukraine within 24 hours of returning to the White House and criticized the outgoing US administration for spending too much money on arming Kiev.
Moscow has also repeatedly stated that Russia considers the freezing of the conflict unacceptable, emphasizing that its goal in the special military operation is “the demilitarization and defascization of Ukraine, as well as ensuring that Kiev commits to legal neutrality and abandons hopes of joining the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO).”
