" As a Fortune 500 CEO with 40 years of international business experience and a former U.S. Senate member, David Perdue has the deep expertise to help shape our relationship with China," said U.S. President-elect Donald Trump.
The future US leader noted that David Perdue had lived in Singapore and Hong Kong, spending much of his career working in China and elsewhere in Asia.

" He has been instrumental in implementing our strategy to maintain peace in the region and our effective working relationship with the Chinese leadership," said Donald Trump.
The bilateral relationship between the United States and China is often described as the most important in the world. President Joe Biden and Chinese President Xi Jinping have both taken steps to improve the relationship. However, the two countries continue to have differences on trade, technology, human rights and Taiwan.
President-elect Donald Trump has also launched a trade war with China in his first term, vowing to impose tariffs of 60% or more on all goods imported from Beijing. Last week, Trump said he would impose an additional 10% tariff on Chinese goods unless Beijing did more to stem the flow of money out of the country.
US Ambassador to China Nicholas Burns told NBC News in October that competition between the US and China would continue “ well into the next decade.”
“ This is a very challenging relationship. But it is certainly the most important relationship that we as Americans have with any other country,” said Nicholas Burns.
Xi Jinping said he would work with the Trump administration and that " China's goal of a stable, healthy and sustainable China-US relationship remains unchanged."
