The congressman has criticized China ’s activities in the Asia-Pacific region and argued that the United States needs to prepare for the possibility of conflict in the region. In his book, The Inconvenient Truth: Think and Lead Like a Green Beret , published this year, Waltz outlined a strategy to prevent war with China, including arming Taiwan more quickly, reassuring allies in the Pacific, and modernizing aircraft and warships.
Also on November 11, President-elect Donald Trump announced that he would appoint former Republican congressman Lee Zeldin as head of the Environmental Protection Agency. On the social network Truth Social, Mr. Trump affirmed that Mr. Zeldin would ensure fairness in making decisions related to the abolition of regulations and laws in environmental protection, as well as ensure the rapid promulgation of regulations in a way that benefits American businesses, while maintaining the highest environmental standards. Mr. Zeldin is someone who has a view that goes against actions to protect the green environment. Mr. Trump also announced the selection of Republican congresswoman Elise Stefanik as the upcoming US ambassador to the United Nations. "I am honored to appoint Elise Stefanik to serve in my cabinet as the US Ambassador to the United Nations. Ms. Elise is an extremely strong, tough and intelligent warrior for 'America First'" - Mr. Trump declared. Ms. Stefanik (40 years old) graduated from Harvard University, is a congresswoman from New York state and is the chairwoman of the Republican Conference in the US House of Representatives. She is a loyal ally of Mr. Donald Trump. On the social network X, she said that she accepted Mr. Trump's appointment.

China talks about cooperation after Trump's election

Speaking at the US-China Business Council dinner in Shanghai on November 7, Chinese Ambassador to the US Xie Feng stressed that "no one is a winner" in the wars over tariffs, trade or science and technology. The Chinese Ambassador to the US said that the differences between the two countries should become a driving force for exchanges and mutual learning, instead of being "an excuse for rejection and confrontation". He also affirmed that each country's successes are opportunities for the other to develop further.
