According to the head of the Ho Chi Minh City government, these silent examples have written beautiful stories in everyday life, spreading messages about the meaning of life and love, to make the city "more affectionate and more compassionate".
This morning (December 24), the People's Committee of Ho Chi Minh City and the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Ho Chi Minh City held a ceremony to honor "Silent but noble examples" in the city's patriotic emulation movement.
There are 17 groups and 23 individuals honored this year.
At the ceremony, Chairman of Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee - Mr. Phan Van Mai shared "everyone in society has their own role and should do that role well".
"Kindness and noble deeds, although sometimes simple, contain compassion and contribute to making life more beautiful and meaningful," Mr. Mai expressed.
The head of the city government believes that since Ho Chi Minh City is an economic "locomotive", it should also become a "locomotive" of compassion.
Through that, he called on each organization and individual to do the most meaningful things possible, such as: eliminating slums, traffic black spots, polluted canals; opening up to share with those in difficult circumstances...
Also at the ceremony, stories of beautiful lives were recreated with emotion. They were retired teachers, monks, nuns, nuns... who diligently went to charity classes to spread knowledge; young people waded in black ditches to keep the environment clean; kind-hearted people came to the unfortunate to share and support... This illustrates the solidarity and sharing of the people of Ho Chi Minh City for generations.
