Mr. Nguyen Tran Manh Trung was appointed General Director of VietinBank.

Mr. Nguyen Tran Manh Trung, a new member of the Board of Directors, was appointed by VietinBank as the bank's General Director from October 17.

At the 2024 Extraordinary General Meeting of Shareholders held on October 17, Vietnam Joint Stock Commercial Bank for Industry and Trade (VietinBank) elected Mr. Nguyen Tran Manh Trung and Mr. Nguyen Viet Dung as members of the Board of Directors of VietinBank for the 2024-2029 term.

On the same day, the Board of Directors of VietinBank also announced the decision to appoint Mr. Nguyen Tran Manh Trung, a new member of the Board of Directors of VietinBank for the 2024-2029 term, concurrently holding the position of General Director of VietinBank, with a term of appointment of 5 years, starting from October 17.

Mr. Nguyen Tran Manh Trung was born in 1983, is introduced to have a degree in banking and finance from the National Economics University and a master's degree in banking and finance from the Banking Academy.

Mr. Trung started working at VietinBank in 2005, holding many positions at Dong Da branch such as corporate customer relations officer and Deputy Head of Risk Management Department.

In July 2011, he worked as a secretary at the head office. From June 2014, he was appointed as acting head of the business operations management department. In July 2015, he became Director of VietinBank Hanoi branch. In September 2022, he was appointed as Deputy General Director.

Mr. Nguyen Viet Dung was born in 1986, has a bachelor's degree in development economics from the National Economics University and a master's degree in international business from the University of Bolton (UK).

In 2013, he started working at the State Bank as an interest rate specialist, Monetary Policy Department. In September 2014, he was transferred to the position of Deputy Governor's Secretary. In June 2016, he became Deputy Governor's Secretary - Head of Department. In November 2020, he became Governor's Secretary - Deputy Head of Department and from March 2022 to present, he has been appointed as Secretary of the Governor of the State Bank.

Regarding business results, in the past 9 months, VietinBank continued to record positive results, demonstrating a solid development foundation, along with the bank's proactiveness and flexibility in a challenging business context.

Some individual estimated indicators are as follows: Total assets increased by 9.7% compared to the end of 2023; Outstanding credit increased by 9% compared to the end of 2023, complying with the credit growth limit of the State Bank of Vietnam; mobilized capital increased by 7.9% compared to the end of 2023; bad debt ratio (excluding CIC) is controlled at 1.4%...

In particular, the entire VietinBank system continues to accelerate comprehensive digital transformation, of which 45 initiatives are prioritized for implementation in 2024. VietinBank has established a Digital Factory to implement initiatives according to the Agile working method with the goal of spreading new working methods and mindsets, bringing quality digital products that are continuously improved in a short time.

In order to share the difficulties with customers suffering from super typhoon Yagi (typhoon No. 3), VietinBank reduced lending interest rates by up to 2%/year, with an expected outstanding loan balance of up to 100,000 billion VND to support capital for customers to soon stabilize their lives and production and business activities.

In addition, VietinBank staff, union members and employees donated 1 day's salary each (total amount of 10 billion 584 million VND) to support people in the provinces to overcome the damage caused by storm No. 3 and the floods after the storm. The total amount of money VietinBank has donated to support people in the provinces to overcome the damage caused by storm No. 3 to date is over 24 billion VND. These are timely and meaningful actions, demonstrating VietinBank's affection and responsibility towards society and the community.

Speaking at the Congress, Mr. Tran Minh Binh - Party Secretary, Chairman of the Board of Directors of VietinBank affirmed that after completing the senior personnel, VietinBank will continue to closely follow and focus on fully and effectively implementing the key solutions set out at the beginning of the year to proactively overcome difficulties and challenges, take advantage of opportunities, strive to innovate and be creative in all areas of operation and continue to build and develop a strong, effective and sustainable VietinBank system. VietinBank hopes to continue to receive the attention and support of all sectors and levels, the active cooperation of partners and customers and the trust and commitment of shareholders./.
