On January 6, the Investigation Police Agency, Thai Binh Provincial Police informed about the developments of the case related to the accused Luu Binh Nhuong (born in 1963, residing in Tay Ho district, Hanoi city; former Deputy Head of the Petition Committee of the National Assembly Standing Committee).

Informing VietNamNet reporters, the leader of Thai Binh Province Police said: There are many new developments in the case related to Mr. Luu Binh Nhuong that are being investigated and clarified.

Specifically, on December 25, 2023, the Investigation Police Agency of Thai Binh Provincial Police issued a decision to supplement the decision to prosecute the criminal case and the decision to supplement the decision to prosecute the accused against Mr. Luu Binh Nhuong for the crime of "Taking advantage of position and power to influence others for personal gain" under Clause 4, Article 358 of the Penal Code. The decisions were approved by the People's Procuracy of Thai Binh Province.

Investigation documents determined: In 2021, in connection with a project, Mr. Luu Binh Nhuong took advantage of his position and power to embezzle 300,000 USD.

At the Investigation Agency, Mr. Nhuong honestly confessed to his crime and, through his lawyer, authorized his relatives to return 7 billion VND (equivalent to 300,000 USD) to remedy the consequences.
