Foreign technology giants pay more than 6,200 billion VND in taxes in Vietnam

According to the General Department of Taxation's report on e-commerce tax management, by the end of August 2024, there were 106 foreign suppliers registered and granted tax codes through the General Department of Taxation's Electronic Information Portal.

In the first 8 months of 2024, foreign suppliers such as Netflix, Tik Tok, Microsoft,... declared and paid taxes of more than 6,234 billion VND, equal to 124% compared to the same period in 2023.

Also in this report, the General Department of Taxation said that the results of checking the floors required to provide information to tax authorities showed that 404 e-commerce trading floors provided information on the e-commerce portal, an increase of 43 floors compared to the end of 2023.

Tax collection results from organizations and individuals with e-commerce business activities in the first 7 months of 2024, the management revenue is about 1.77 million billion VND, the tax paid is about 78 thousand billion VND, an increase of 38% compared to the average tax in the first 7 months of 2023 (in 2023, the management revenue is 3.5 million billion VND, the tax paid is 97 thousand billion VND).
